I ordered my first Leatherman (black oxide surge) a couple days ago. I don't think I've ever been this excited for a product to come in the mail.

I was really excited about the idea of a brand new PST until I saw that it seems to only be available as a $275 limited edition. I really hope they sell it without the fancy box and engraving for those of us who actually want to use it.

That was my only problem with the wave, since I bent the wire cutters on my last one which made the pliers difficult to use.

I was expecting better after Gerber released their Centerdrive... this is a bit lack-luster of a release for the 35th anniversary.... a $275 multitool that used to retail for around $50, added replaceable wire cutters and then new sheaths all around? I hope the product development team didn't get paid much.

My granddad has a super old leatherman. Its so beaten but still holds up fine.

I simple don't have enough pockets to put all my knives and multi-tools. I need to stop, I have a problem.

In 1983 or 4, I remember the advertisements from Leatherman and the articles on the tool and I got one from the store. I remember it had the tool clipped to my belt and my bicycle had a small flat head screw that I needed to undo and I took the tool and got the screw driver out and was trying to unscrew the screw and the tip twisted into a corkscrew shape and I remember being really disappointed. I stopped carrying it and just started carrying a swiss army knife that served me well. except it didn't have pliers. I waited around ten years before buying another one and by then the brand was established and the tools had proper hardness to them. I remember everyone disappointed at Leatherman in Shot Show 2017 for their split off handles Juice type tools and felt they were starting to jump the shark and I really hoped that they would have learned from that and came out with something new for 2018 and after seeing this, I can only conclude that they hired someone in 2017 that is hell bent on ruining the company. I feel really bad for the people who work there that will probably all end up losing jobs because of whoever they hired. I give them one more year and if they come up with more the same like 2017 and 18, they are literally done.

I have à original pst, i think My grandfather bought it 1991 and it is still running strong!

I have one of the original Leatherman still in service. It lacks locking blade and tools, but still works excellent. If they haven’t already done this, I would like to see a non-knife version that could be carried anywhere.

"We couldn't really think up anything new.." So we are "RELAUNCHING" old models again. Yawn! Here's an idea... PREMIUM blade steel. CPM-S35VN or even S30V, CPM-154, M590...

I’ve had my tread for almost 3 years and I love it. I have the black and steel and wear the steel way more often. The black is marked up and looks like hell. But either way it’s a fantastic tool!

leatherman is one of the coolest brands and probably my most used EDC products. They get beat on at work all the time. But I think in 2018 they should work on fit and finish. Uneven grinds, rough pivots, etc. Still, they work.

I have the watch (work at place that sells leatherman and got a discount). As a watch guy I like it. It is hefty but let's you know it's there. I don't anticipate using the tools cuz I like to keep my watch nice, bit it is there just in case. I have small wrists so fitting it is more of what tools are you not wanting to have. On the box it says water resistant to 200m (Not 50m like what Carie said). Swiss movt so far seems good. Glow in the dark hands and hours (would like to see tritium in future) and for people who like to tinker the case of the watch features a file and mini tool to take apart links to have it what you want on the bracelet. So no need to go to a jeweler to adjust it. Scratch resistant sapphire in face (apparently black model didn't have this?). Overall a great time piece and a conversation starter.

Make a improved titanium version of the surge with better s30v steel on all blades & include any shieth of choice & include the bit kit. Or do the same with the super tool 300.

Pretty cool idea but why not make the pst out of premium materials? You are basically paying all that money for a box. I get it, but the practical side of me says hell no. If I want another pst ill find a used one on eBay for 20 bucks.

Improving their best product, the Wave/Charge, is much better than those joke parts-of-Juices products they put at last year. In fact, I was holding out on a Charge TTI until they made this upgrade, which I had a hunch was coming soon. :)

I guess I need to sell my old wave and upgrade now.

I still don't understand the "impressive under water depth." Do watch makers think that the average person in going to be that deep under water? %99.9 of us will never be that deep and if you are, I don't think the TIME would be first priority!

My surge came with a button sheath. And it’s a leather sheath. Have to say I’m disappointed that they’re moving to nylon across the board.

50 meters does not mean the watch can go down to that depth. It just means you can wear it while washing hands and during light rain.

Why is it 275$? You can get an original on ebay for 50 bucks. Yeah it's used but it's character. Hopefully they release it as a regular in the line, but for cheaper.

Have the "Tread" and don't wear a watch because something on both wrists is just too "hipster" for me but like the "tread watch" idea.

If you make a watch directed at people who work with manual tools you ought to make it waterproof upto atleast 100m and more shock resistant then this looks to be.
