I came out 20 years ago and I regret those few wasted years before I did. I never realised how much of yourself you hide when you hide your sensuality. It's super scary and it will be for a time afterwards but also so freeing . Always make sure you fell you are safe with the person you are coming out to . Much love ❤

Jazmin, I think many of us can relate. When I came out to my Dad at the age of 23 (about 40 years ago😲), I was scared, too. But I knew it was who I was. His response was, "Well, it doesn't make me happy." I said "But it does make ME happy." And we loved each other until the day he died. Good luck with coming out, whenever you choose to do so.

I felt the exact same way. I spent a year watching lgbt+ w/w clips, and they made me so so happy and comfortable, but I still kept it a secret. I thought I might come out years down the line, but experienced something that encouraged me to come out just a few months later. Coming out was one of the scariest things in my life, but I’m so so happy I did it. My Dad still has hope that I’ll marry a man and some of my family isn’t the most approving. But you can’t hide who you are, it’s exhausting, and there are so so many people who will become your other family and support. We’re lucky to have you in our community

Queer is a grouping, and like gay it's perfectly ok... but lesbian truly says who we uniquely are. Just asking for parity with our labels, hope for your consideration.

@@ohthelovelypoems I think I understand where you're coming from, and I know that many LGBTQ+ people are still uncomfortable with the reclaimed version of the word "queer." But using the word "queer" is inclusive of characters & relationships that don't fit neatly into the lesbian category. This video would certainly be shorter if we only included characters who are canonically (clearly stated) lesbians, rather than bi/pan, unspecified orientation, and/or non-binary. Kai & Che are non-binary. Callie is bi. Amelia is presumably bi/pan. (I haven't watched recent seasons, only clips, so I don't know if she has expressed a label for her attractions or not.) One of the characters from "Harlem" is just starting to figure it out. I get the impression that Miranda is also figuring things out. (Hopefully your specific categorization isn't indicative of a transphobic/ TERF-y perspective.) Elena on One Day at a Time identifies as a lesbian, and she's in a long-term relationship with Syd, who is non-binary. I haven't seen Euphoria to know how Rue identifies while dating Jules, her girlfriend who is trans, but I do know that their ship belongs in this video too. *Sometimes* lesbians stay with their partner who comes out as a trans guy. And *sometimes* hetero women stay with their partner who comes out as a trans woman. And anyone of any gender or orientation could be with a non-binary person. Some couples are able to make a seemingly contradictory pairing work, while other people aren't. People are complicated. Sexuality & gender are complicated. Life is complicated. Queer is no longer a slur (except when used as such). It's used in neutral & positive ways, and it carries as much pride as terms that are more specific, like gay, lesbian, bi, pan, etc. I am queer & ace. I identified as bi for a long time. Lately I've realized that I'm probably either gay or mostly gay. But I'm not completely sure, especially considering that my asexuality gets in the way of "experimenting." And even if I do choose a label of lesbian, I would still feel like I'm "not gay enough," because so much of gay/queer identity & culture is rooted in sex. (Certainly hetero culture is too. But it's different since LGBTQ+ are a minority that's marginalized and stereotyped as being inherently sexual & "perverse." So in response, a lot of people in the community have said like, "Oh, we're sexual, huh? Well let's see how sexual we can get!" Which I can't relate to. And they can't relate to my perspective either.) I certainly have more coming out to do, and more self-acceptance to accomplish... but it doesn't mean that I'm not proud of who I am and how far I've come since I first started figuring it out. And it doesn't mean that I'm not a valid part of the LGBTQ+ community. Same with any trans/NB or bi/pan people, whether IRL or onscreen.
