That's really hard to answer since I don't time track. I mean, I do, but only to motivate myself to work 3 hours on a day I have set aside to work on this project, and then I usually exceed that. I would guess the level took around ... let's say each main room took an average of 5-7 hours (I really don't know - that could be wildly off) and there were 15 of them so 75-105 hours. The four bonus rooms were quick to make, but there was a lot of time lost on failed ideas too. I think I could say a level takes me more than 100 hours. It's been 6 months since the last devlog, so 100 hours over the course of 6 months isn't too rigorous. Meanwhile, I try to pump out the devlogs themselves a little faster. This one took me about 7 hours and felt fairly quick. Which suggests to me I might be underestimating how long I spend making a level.

I sat in a Starbucks one day and over the course of four hours, I think I produced the slinky and the piggy bank and the goldfish bowl for the bookshelf-toy room. A lot of this is very slow - drawing and redrawing graphics (since I don't really know what I'm doing) with an audiobook.

If it's fun! I didn't mention in the video that I'd been experimenting with something like the swinging claw from Mario Maker, but that's because I think I'll be using it as a variation on the swinging platforms in my Woodlands level (I'm going to go back to the Woodlands and make a bonus room with these swinging platforms that you use an electric character to control). And I like the wizard too - he just didn't fit this level - and if I make another level, he'll probably be in it. But the bouncing ball won't come back since even when I got it to bounce the way I wanted, it just slowed you down - and I won't be using the arrows that act like DK barrels because they don't fit the game - and in the last video I scrapped a skate-board idea that just has never felt right. But yeah, I absolutely reuse when I can - and even my mistakes teach me stuff about programming that'll be helpful later.
