You seem to be judging the Magsafe battery pack as a charger. I've used it as an extended battery for my iPhone 12 Pro and it works fine giving worry-free all day heavy use. It sticks like a limpet to an Apple Magsafe case and doubles the battery capacity on my phone. It's expensive but then everything is if it's made by Apple.

I will not argue whether it works or not, I would just say (as an iPhone 12 Pro Max user) that its pretty sad to need an accessory to make a phone last ...a day? (heavy use or not) Apple needs to up their game.

I seriously don't understand why so many are hating on this thing so much. I mean yes, the price I understand but it was never meant to be a crazy fast charger since that would compromise battery longevity and efficiency. People also seem to forget the smart battery cases didn't ever charge the phone fully, and they always kept the battery topped off. This thing actually stops charging at 90, and insures it doesn't get too hot. This is kinda like airpods. It's for convenience. Nothing more, nothing less. I personally love just having the peace of mind knowing I can just snap this on the back of my phone and know it'll keep me afloat. It also isn't like we are tethered to a wall by means of a wire or even wireless charger. Not sure why speed matters so much since you'd be using this on the go. If you do decide to plug it in to the wall, it'll charge faster and act as a typical magsafe charger. Patience is a virtue 😂.

Well the battery case is significantly thinner, it also come with a case, it generates less heat, it still work with wireless charging. So in my book the battery case is far better product. Personally, I think both of these products are bad it defeats the purpose of having a thin and light phone. Stop charging at 90% is so easy to implement in the iPhone itself so that it would work with all charger/battery out there. Apple chose not to implement this feature so they can sell you the MagSafe battery. I am not going to reward Apple for these business move. For a convenient product, I find it inconvenient. 1/ Does not work with my current car mount. 2/ Does not work with my current case. 3/ Does not work with any wireless charging unless you remove the battery. 4/ Thick, heavy, can fallout when insert/remove from pockets, stick out in pocket. I can get 20-30% of charge with zero effort by having a wireless charger in my car while having this battery mean I can't do that anymore. Same when I am at work I have a wireless charging dock there that I can't really use. So at least for me, this battery does not give me more battery and I believe many people have similar setup. If you don't drive and you don't have access to any outlets then think about this, a 30 min wire charge from a power bank give you 50% battery which is similar to what this battery give you and they can charge your phone 3 times and they cost like $40.

I won't get one because I don't need it but I don't understand why there's all this talk about how fast it charges. It's made to attach to your phone and stay on your phone for a while not be something you place it on for quick charge. There are other solutions for that.

Nah, the problem is that the battery pack doesn’t charge fast enough while using the phone. The phone actually dies the same rate as when it’s not attached to the battery pack. Never had that issue with previous battery pack case.

That's exactly what I was writing... it gets the job done with zero hassle. It's not for nerds, it's for people who travel and take pictures and so needs more juice than an ordinary day.

I love mine keeps me charged up for the day it’s not intended to be a phone charger that takes you from 0-100.. I love the fact it manages to keep my phone cool unlike the aftermarkets that burns up your battery. I’m on my way to buy one for my wife as her battery percentage is lower because she’s constantly charging it with a fast charger this will save her some cycles…

I think if this had come out at the same time as the phone, at least I would’ve questioned whether to spend the money on the magsafe charger or just get this battery that is also a magsafe charger.

I have to date only seen one review that highlights the USP of their battery pack and it does make me aghast that these self-promoting YT “experts” do not even mention it! The feature is for the Apple pack to act as a modular secondary battery! That is, charge both phone and pack to 100% and attach them in that state. The iPhone will then drain the pack first leaving your phone fully charged when the pack is empty (or around 90%)! This is in fact how the smart battery case works, which stuns me further as they did not even pick that up! The reason 5 watts is enough when doing this method is that you are just trickling power to run the phone, thus minimal heat (none on my smart battery case). Anyway, if you use it as above this is a great option if you do not mind the pack semi-permanently attached? It also is more efficient and if you have two packs, you can hot swap them always keeping your iPhone battery at near max charge! £100 is not cheap and that is def a barrier to entry, but I would pay that rather than £50 for the alternatives due to the way I use them, the safety features and integration? But it is just a choice, get whatever suits your needs?

@@9to5Mac Yea, people tend to forget one of the selling point of iPhone is thin and light. Apple spend millions to make it this way now they want to reverse it by permanently attach a battery in the back. The use cases for this battery pack is so limited that $99 is not worth it. I can only see myself using it when I forget to charge my phone and I have to leave immediately.

@@9to5Mac …with a MagSafe case on it is not that detachable, the bottom may slide a bit, but it is not a deal-breaker. Of course, for the 15% that use their phone naked, the glass back means that it will be less tight fitting, maybe a time to get a case? Also, you can DIY a fix to stop the sliding with magnetic tape. I see no issue and I like the grip that my smart battery case bump gives. This also seems a bit moot as the Anker wireless pack charges at 5 watts and will take many hours to recharge your iPhone 12 Pro Max so that seems like a point made to dismiss the Apple pack with no reference to similar products that will be stuck on the back for nearly as long!!!

I don’t even need one man my iPhone battery won’t quit lol. These are actually really neat. What a lot of folks do not understand, is the wired qi chargers are very inefficient but it doesn’t matter cause plugged in. Once you’re wireless qi charging you need huge cells to get a little power out slowly. What Apple has done is make it so the power leaves the battery and enters your phone much faster and efficiently. It’s actually neat. But as I said, my 11 lasts all day and then some.

Noone seems to get that the purpose of this battery pack is just to charge that 50% (up to 80% on a 12 mini) that makes the difference between going home with a dead phone and being able to make a call or take a photo. Performance is not relevant... it will re-charge your battery without any hassle taking its time when this charge won't overheat the phone. Everyone who cares about numbers and performance will be disappointed. If you want your phone to have extra charge when you are travelling without even thinking about it that's a fine accessory that will do the job.

Well I can charge my phone in my car when traveling or when I reach my office with zero effort using wireless charging. If I ever go to camp or somewhere without an outlet for a few days I would definitely take a power bank that can charge my phone 3 times. I just can’t find a good use case from the apple battery.

I have had multiple apple battery packs, and must say, disappointed with all of them. Swore won’t buy one again, apple didn’t get this product line correct. Have been an apple fanboy from the start, but this is one that you can definitely pass

If you are a heavy user especially the kind that uses their phone so much they use it attached to a fast charging power source for the battery to keep up i think this battery pack wont be able to fully satisfy your needs. But if you are an iphone mini user and not glued to your phone all day its a nice battery level maintenance accessory

I bought one, for a sheer simplicity of bringing it to work. I live in China with a two hour commute, total, per day for work. It’s nice having this just so that when I get off work I know that I have power and will make it home. I’m a pro max user, but I have three hour break during the day, where are use my phone a lot. So I do run the battery down quite fast

What this MagSafe charger is … it’s not for enthusiasts. Enthusiasts don’t have problem carrying their larger battery packs around. It’s for everyday people who want to extend the life of the phone so they don’t need to reach for a cable to recharge until they get home. It’s all about size and weigh. So I wouldn’t put too much stalk on what enthusiasts has to say about the success of this product.

It seems like it is a good addition if you are at 20 percent by the time you get home from work, you can just plop it on and still be using it so it doesn't die on you but you still need it to get to the store or something. I learned to combat this by buying a charger at work and having my iPhone charge an hour before I leave.

My biggest problem it won’t charge the phone would discharge. I really gave up it a shame 3 calls to apple support and no luck. I ended getting the Anker MagSafe abs it been flawless

So I started the return process with Apple, they told me to keep it for free. I have a feeling this current product is being shelved very soon. - It's absolutely awful btw. Not worth it for free.

@@ridiqul phoned the call centre and literally told them it’s terrible, the battery depletes very fast. When I’m using my AirPods and the battery pack, I’m losing battery even as it’s charging. The charging wattage is that low, the phone drains more than the battery gives.

Nice reviews. I would like to share on how I use my apple magsafe battery on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and maybe you can do a review on it. I will turn on my “Low Power Mode” while using the battery pack and You be surprised that it charges so much faster. I’m Keeping my apple battery pack for sure.

It's a magnet, it's a very very well known fact that magnetic charging is inferior to wired and even wireless charging. Serves you right though for always running out buying whatever Apple sells.

This battery pack is ok if you’re gonna snap it on the back of your iPhone and just leave your phone alone without using.. otherwise having this thing on supposedly changing your iPhone you will notice that you still loosing battery percentage instead of gaining.. I did not have this issue when I used to use the smart battery cases..🤷🏻‍♂️

Can only be charged with Lightning. Not even Apple's own MagSafe Charger can charge it! I might try again after Apple equips it with USB-C (got a cable with me for my iPad Pro and MacBook Air) and/or makes it MagSafe-compatible to be charged with the iPhone MagSafe Charger. Otherwise, no way, would need a separate Lightning Cable in my bag only for this!!

To each their own. During the COVID-19 pandemic I have not been out, and about as much as the past. Now with the new change even though I'm vaccinated I feel I am back to staying at home except to go out once every two weeks, and purchase food yet once again. So American do your part so we can put this behind us get vaccinated please in this new age of the "COVID-19 pandemic of the unvaccinated". I am with you they should have a black version of the battery pack. My late mother always told me black goes with everything. From what the reviews have shown feel the magnet needs to be just a little bit stronger so that is not so easy to slip off.

No wireless charging pack offers that speed, the max is about 7-watts. This is to stop overheating and when YT influencers make this complaint I do wonder whether they do their research!

how so? being able to slap on a wallet or battery pack seems pretty damn convenient to me. Back in early 2000’s people said the internet on a phone was a gimmick

@@vincarro5078 The problem is that the wallet can detach when you try to slide it in your pocket. The stand is fine since it's not going anywhere but i wouldn't want to lose my cards because it slid off my phone.
