I like how he's says "we want to see if McIntosh is something we would like to carry with our brand." Where the correct question is are you qualified to rep McIntosh? If you have to ask, you are not qualified.

I'm an original two channel guy, and I appreciate what they offer. However, this would be an insult to McIntosh to meld this into a home theater environment. I'm sure you picked up on his body language and comments when you suggested "home theater". Two Channel of this quality is amazing and something few have the opportunity to appreciate. I have a two channel room, and a home theater room (components courtesy of DreamMedia, of course). Long live two channel!

With passthrough... you can have both... beautiful 2-channel setup for hi-res audio and the ability to use reference-grade speakers as your primary L/R for a surround system. No reason whatsoever to be ashamed of such a system especially if your theater room is acoustically treated and comfy.

McIntosh have in their range several home theater components including a bluray player, av processor and various speakers so why would it be insulting to them.
