Rory Reid reviews the new McLaren GT, Woking's first attempt at a proper grand tourer. It may look like a supercar, but it's designed to be a car you can use every day. It's fast, spacious, has a powered tailgate and an excellent interior. But is it as good as a Bentley Continental GT or Aston Martin DB11?

is it me, or does it feel like whenever I watch one of these reviews it doesn't even feel like a review. It feels like a high budget movie with all the intense music, and beautiful camera shots. well done.

Great Video Rory, but 2 things: 1) FIAT and McLaren should not mentioned in the same video!!! 🤣 2) Any Bentley looks more comfortable and practical as a GT (or any regular car) than a McLaren!! McLaren's belong on a track or showing off as a track car around town, not getting groceries!!! 😉

Rory, that's an epic review for a close to epic car. I especially liked the period, when you spoke about undertaking countless miles for a seemingly mundane thing, in a great GT car. That's what a true GT is all about.. Driving long journeys. Thank you. 👍❤️

It could work as gt car. If you use soft luggage and pack really good. Use the front and back storage I am willing to test this car in the south and the blue ridge mountains

I’m conflicted between this an AMG GTR roadster and Acura NSX the latter two will have the best resale because they have a limited amount only 750 gtr roadsters in Us but what do you think is the best bang for buck

Much as it’s a great Tesco (other supermarkets are available) car you’re going to be hard pressed to get the garden rubbish in the back to get to the dump! For that you need the AMG GLA45, blisteringly fast when you need it with 375hp. 4wd for those snowy days (rare in UK - but then I am closer to France than t’north). And a boot for “stuff” when you go on that continental holiday (Brexit at the end of the month.....). Great to watch Rory and so pleased you’re back in the public eye. But I’ll stick with mine. Subscribed 😎😎😎

If McLaren can justify it, this would be a great platform for a hybrid. Along the lines of BMW i8 but more biased toward the electric drive with 2 to 4 cyl ultra-efficient ICE only for charging and low-mid performance drive. I know that’s not the way the market’s going, but I believe it should be.

It's just ridiculous that there is nothing retaining the rear luggage from sliding into the cabin when you slam the brakes other than a silly low set bar behind the seats. See Doug de Muro's review and watch the golf clubs escape out of the golf bag as he applies normal pressure to the brakes. There are 6 hooks built into the trunk walls where you might be able to attach some retaining net over your luggage, but that would still be impractical to install and uninstall on a regular basis. Also, ideally the rear windshield would be much more tinted to preserve at least some luggage privacy, but that's probably not an option as it would dangerously impact retrovision and might not even be legal. Most customers in this price range probably can afford a thrilling uncompromised McLaren plus a practical, spacious, 4 seat, front-engined, everyday GT.
