@TheArfdog You're watching the wrong type of videos to be expressing such concern about idle quality. But to answer your question as to whats good about the rough idle-its simply badass. That is the only reason a man needs. Especially when its paired with the right exhaust system.

Nice motor nelson. My 410 Cleveland made 624hp and 580 ft lbs with all the accs on the engine. 560 ft lbs from 4000 rpm to 6000 rpm. 580 @5600peak. Talk about table top flat dog! lol

@TheArfdog This engine is advertised as a street engine, because it will survive street use. The carb is tuned to provide good part throttle drivability, partially due to the progressive linkage which allows more than just power on or off. It doesn't need a ton of valve spring pressure, which aids longevity. NRE is as known for durability as they are for power. This engine makes huge power all over the tach, not just up top. Gas mileage? It is 447" with a 1050 dominator atop! Remember that!

@tonto2009 This IS the MOST trust worthy builder you can find anywhere . He had done work for countless people. Tim the Tool Man Taylor (Tim Allen) had work done by Tom Nelson. He Built the "F Bomb" Camaro that was in the Fast and Furious 4 Movie

looks like Shafiroff and Lukovich both offer a more powerful engine in this size. The other 2 guys use around 10 3/4:1 cr. I think they both use the 245 cc heads

4 seasons might mean something to drag races, it doesn't mean anything to people driving their car on the street or a track. 150,000 miles or equivalent damage. How do they correlate their time testing at max torque or max power with 150,000 miles street usage? Or even just 100,000 miles? It's hard to gauge how they perform next to OEM.

@@cfmechanic Use Hypertechs, if You're not using Nitrous. Or heck, even Cast Pistons are fine. I've run them in 500hp engines. Good Luck

I'm just saying a 1 year warranty for a street engine is weak. And they claim no warranty claims. So if you're gonna call it reliable and driveable.... put your money where your mouth is.

DYNA KLO 1 second ago That's why on my 355 chevy iuse 25mm hydraulic roller lifter EXTRA lite weight home made concoction from super intrinsic hyper alloy non bearing on a solid roller cam and 2 to 1 rockers to capture ramp rates without overloading the seats, springs and cam. This allows for more power and efficiency without eventual damage. The lifter bores are sleeved and lifter valley cage welded. @@scottwest1813

When a motor is making that much power typically they have no warranty. Most people are gonna buy it and thrash on it. If u beat stuff all the time it wont last. If that motor is babied I could see it going 2 or 3 years. Biggest issue i see is the long stroke and short skirts on the pistons is a lot of side load on the piston which adds to wear and tear on the piston and the cylinder wall.

Bailen Oberloher Probably lasts several years if its kept under like 4k rpm for the first 1k-2k miles or so. I bought a 2013 Coyote 5.0, broke it in easy for the first thousand miles, and I've been wrapping it out every time I get in the car ever since. Got 22k miles on it so far and no sign of slowing down, purchased late summer 2012. Its been through several months at a time of daily driving duty and its pretty much a weekend car at this point. But it gets driven hard and its lasted two years without any issues to speak of.

Uh that idle is rough as hell. What's good about it? Good for racing, not on the street. It's easy to make mad power while ignoring idle quality. The hard part is getting a smooth idle with all that power.

Also, he doesn't talk about durability or gas mileage or anything so for a street engine, there a few unknowns. Yeah it makes great power... but how about step it up a notch and deliver on other performance fronts than just raw power.

620 horse on that motor is mild. He just told you there is low valve sspring pressuure. That means low lift cam and longetivity...

Don Rutter this is a race engine that you can use on the street. That doesn’t mean every day daily driver if you want that go get a GM good wrench motor. How many 600+ hp motors do u see getting fuel mileage ? I know a person that drives it on weekends then races it and drives it home and it’s 4 years old now. It’s a great little motor just to much for me
