Interesting. Looking forward to your tests.

My MLA30+ doesn't stop at 500kHz, it works below 100kHz without an issue, I wonder what the actual different is?

A teardown of both side by side will solve the mistery. Even if it's coated we can recognize new configuration of the components perhaps bigger inductor or so.

Good info. Where did you get it?

I think they should have removed the badly shielded/lossy coax cable and replaced it with a bnc or so239 socket. Of course that would make it more expensive. I know people have modified the mla-30 with a bnc socket so they can use good quality coax with better shielding and bnc plugs. This should help improve performance even more.

Hello, I have 2 of them also, both just recently received. Both are not the "plus" model. Only difference is that one has 3 mounting holes and the other only has 2. Thanks for pointing out the difference. Hmmmm....

Okay, Gilles, I want to know if they're different. Can you contact the manufacturer to find out?

Hello. Have you tried increasing the gain of the original mla-30 to compare? (in the amplifier box)

Reduced voltage and frequency range? Looks more like a minus than a plus

Interesting to note that a car battery can carry close to 13 volts when fully charged. Maybe it is better to use the non-plus version of the MLA 30 during power outages which is rated at around 14 volts maximum.
@raithjames8603 жыл бұрын
Yes, that was my thinking as well. When car battery is under charge it can get in the 14 volt range as well. I think the 30 would be the better choice of the two for me.

@@raithjames860 Hold on Rob! It's been a month since I commented. Since then I have discovered that the small box powers the big box and that the input on the small box requires only five volts/two amps. The small box converts the five volts to the higher voltage needed for the bigger box and the knee bone is connected to the leg bone and the leg bone is connected to the foot bone. I hope you are old enough to remember that song but seriously speaking, I have watched about every MLA-30 video I could find and I went with the plus after watching several videos demonstrating the plus and non plus side by side. Sorry for the late info. Hope it helps.

I have 2 MLA 30+ antennas. The Biasing Tee powers up fine on a USB plug in power adapter but when I try and power it through a portable power bank the power cuts off after a few minutes. This happens with both antenna Biasing Tees and with several different portable power banks different power cords. I would like to use the antenna for portable use but cannot power it. Is this normal or do I have two defective antennas.

I AM A BIT CONFUSED by the voltage differences listed on the two white boxes. The smaller box reads 5 volts at the USB input and the loop attachment box reads 12 volts and there is no input! My QUESTION is: Do I have to somehow make two different connections to the antenna system or do I just slam 12 volts into the 5 volt USB port on the small white box? Thanks and take care
@OfficialSWLchannel3 жыл бұрын
no the Bias T box you power it with 5 volts.. the antenna amplifier upconverts it to 12 v on its own
@tribulationprepper7873 жыл бұрын
@@OfficialSWLchannel Good deal. That is what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation. Take care and may the bird of paradise fly up your Prime Minister's nose.

Gilles can u measure the antenna output voltage for me while its connected to a normal usb cable.. normally there should be around 5v on the output.. somehow mine biast = 12v antenna output.. think its broke? hope to hear from u.. 73,s
@JonAhlquist3 ай бұрын
The "biasing tee" box takes 5V from the USB power supply and has circuitry to increase it to 12V to power the amplifier.
