I don’t think the ishods or these look like basketball shoes. If anything they are influenced by 90s-00s Nike running shoes. It’s funny though that you say it should be more “skateboardy” because the 1985 Jordan high pretty much single-handedly introduced cup soles to skating (watch animal chin and look at all their feet). Dunks are 80s basketball shoes. Blazers were too. Chucks are 60s basketball shoes. Adidas superstar/pro models are 60s basketball shoes. The outlier is Vans which claims they did the first skate shoe but really it was a standard deck shoe marketed and tweaked for skating. A shoe being “skateboardy” almost always means vintage basketball or deck shape. These look like runners and cross trainers which is the weird part. Bball is a high impact sport with lots of lateral movement (we skate laterally) which is why they generally had even height cup soles around the entire shoe. Running shoes are only for forward motion and that is why they make terrible skate shoes. They have tapered, thick heels with a lot of drop/curve from heel to toe and are only made to lock your feet into a forward motion. They don’t require sturdy sidewalls. Basketball just happened to have a lot of overlap with the needs of skaters

The black ones look so cool to me. I was considering getting them to rock then skate once they get beat up. I heard these aren't that durable though, which is a drawback for me. I prefer a skate shoe that's more than $65+ to be durable

The ishod and vertebrae look nothing like basketball shoes and are based on running/tennis designs lmao. Also it’s $85 not $95.

I'd actually totally buy those SB Dunkaroos, but I'm guessing they are fake/AI? Also, what are skateboard looking shoes? The Manteca/Telford/etc are all Dunk knockoffs but look as "skateboard" as anything I've ever seen. We talking vulcs here? I like the basketball vibes (not that I think these are that, but the Ishods are killing it), but I also buy the odd actual basketball shoe. I presume this was a quick edit pushed out to time with the release, but some of the shots are mad washed out, the colour grading isn't up there with your best. Thanks for making sweet videos tho.

I agree with the others here on the comments. These and the Ishods are not basketball looking shoes, if anything there are more 90s to early 2000s running shoes built with some durability in mind. I hate to say it, but it appears Christian has fallen off in recent times!

Skateboarding shoes are rarely over $100. I appreciate the review but it's a shoe so I want to hear about the stitching the paneling and the grip of the sole but none of those details are covered. Those are like the 3 areas that make a high-quality skateboarding shoe, not the price or the style.

Nike should just stop releasing limited edt. Dunks and make them in multiple colorways like they did in the 2010s. All the local skate shops in my town used to have dunks on shelves now only one has it and they do raffles to see who gets to buy them smh…
