My big fear with that is that it makes it really easy to get dust and pocket lint in there. Also, accidentally popping out the SD card and possibly losing it. Now, that said, what the Hell was Nintendo thinking when they put the SD card on the New 3DS XL inside the battery compartment so you have to unscrew it to change the card?! It's almost like they hate the Homebrew scene!

Regarding the dust/lint aspect if I didn't cut the spacing so big I wouldn't worry mind you it's very small. Popping out the SD card is not easy to do either it's a spring connection so unless it fails that wouldn't another thing to worry about. The only reason I want access to the card is for CFW of course backing up my games and saves on my PC faster. I say the company can kick the bucket for all I care they think they control people and honestly I'm sick of them the last few years even though I own thousands in products by them.

FYI Nintendo always used captive screws on all the doors the user was supposed to be able to open themselves. So you can't actually lose the screws without losing the whole thing.

Yeah they are, there's some that are 50 CM in length I guess they're for GPS systems or routing SD cards to far locations from your PC.

Ha Samsung wishes I hate that these companies upsell they're MORE STORAGE models by way more than a Micro SD Card slot costs alongside a Micro SD card. Goes to show that companies just want money and don't care about the consumer.

Nah. The biggest flaw was putting the power button at the bottom where you could accidentally shut off the console while playing a game😅

I never have that issue it has to be held for 2 seconds too then you have to touch the screen to turn it off lol

@@DNAMobileGaming Why are you locally transfering so many large files at once so often that using FTP is bothersome? Non-issue imo. But hey, to each their own.

Honestly a cool mod, but having it where it is originally doesn't bother me much. It takes me about 10 seconds to unscrew the back and access the card. Anyways nice video.

Thanks I get it takes a few seconds to unscrew the back plate but as shown if you're not careful it can break very easily. This was the second time I did this, the first time was years ago when I bought my 3DS brand new and I didn't think the cheap plastic would crack since Nintendo designed them to be removed 🤣. I'm happy with this though it's actually really easy to do a second time.

It's a cool idea, but the mod looks pretty miserable to do. I would rather spend an hour soldering than 15 minutes cutting and filing plastic, personally. I tend to avoid these sorts of case mods. I did a USB-C mod to a DualShock 4 once and that required a lot of filing for the bigger port to line up right. I think I'd rather have a 3D-printed replacement back shell with the hole integrated than cut up my original plastic pieces.

This makes me appreciate my old 3DS and its accesible SD card a bit more now lol, nice mod but Nintendo why RIP to the pink faceplate, you will be missed (can you glue it tho?)
