Early New Order 1980-1982 was when they were at their best! Very ALTERNATIVE sounding, aloof and super cool if you were "in the know". I wish Bernard would still sing low likes he does here. He had that Ian Curtis vibe back then. Plus, I wish Peter Hook was still in the band...oh well dreams never end huh? :)

In 1984 I was a 16 year old New Order completist in rural PA, buying different single versions by mail order. I could have never imagined the solemn and evocative sleeve from “Movement” being animated like that. But even then, if I did, I’d have said “KILL IT WITH FIRE”. Absolutely fantastic you guys are putting this wonderful old stuff out here.

My fav version of this song! Brings back memories of seeing New Order at the I-Beam in San Francisco in June of 1983.

Not my favourite NO song (in my top 5 though) but by fuck,this is THE ONE that gets everyone involved at gigs - what an anthem ! And so glad Movement is getting the recognition it deserves ...my favourite NO album,always has been,always will be.

i had 7 inch and 12 inch. both stolen. That's my definition of sin

The 12" version is best, and every version since has been diminishing returns. They've never nailed it. As this was their first production it's a bit rough round the edges and this 'mix' is questionable. It's a shame Martin didn't get to produce this as it would have had that 'bit extra'.
