The perfect link song between Joy Division and New Order... superb.

I remember hearing this for the first time back in the 80s. It was much different than other music I listened to. I fell in love with it and New Order became one of my favorite bands.

This is singular. I was probably about 14, or 15 when New Order released this album, this great single. I read of the great music journalist (Martin H.?) He, who described the way that this band made him feel, in the factory years. I encountered New Order in my teens in the mid to late eighties. Then I found Joy Division, and Unknown Pleasures therein. I can honestly say, in spite of all great pretenders, which I still admire, there were no two greater bands, than Joy Division, and successfully, New Order, that could move me beyond mere tears, and into something more. Bravo Mr. Sumner, Ms Gilbert, Mr Steve greatest drummer who ever lived, Gillian, the unsung keyboard heroine, and Peter Hook, Hookey, wherever you are. You guys gave a generation (a John Peel generation, a John Cooper-Clarke generation) something that will always be with us. Passed down to, neigh foisted on our young, who love you also, will keep playing your music for one simple fact. When it was written, it was honest. Squid out.

I must have seen New Order live 7 times or more. All through the early '80s. I was so lucky. We always blagged the guest list as we had no money to get there AND pay. They nearly always balls'd up a few of their songs (especially Bernard) but were still a million miles ahead of the other bands of that era. I remember a beautiful girl in Manchester Uni eying me up and me being too shy to do anything (I was about 17). Still a perfect night though.

the audio spacing on this is perfect. love the distinct hi hat shuffles coming out of the right speaker. feels very live and real. love this version. play this on your stereo system with a sub and it feels very visceral

This song surrounds my soul and makes me keep moving forward.... feels a bit sad but it has a special place in my heart

Haunting masterpiece

Wow, the bass is so raw and crisp. It really changes the song. The guitar is almost absent. I can see where they were at this point, and I'm glad to see where they went.

why the fade out at the end? I loved the original finish. This is such a beautiful clean take of one of my favourite tracks but rather let down by the end.. seems to be without the proper full stop as it were
