I really like that the stabilizer doesn't make everything just brighter - as is the case with Gullfoss, which adds a bump at 10kHz no matter what you play through it. I honestly liked the sound of that module - to me it felt more pleasing to listen to while retaining clarity. Something worth noting is that the hip hop track you tried with the Cut mode was using the "Rock" profile, so that could also explain why it thought the sub-bass doesn't belong there.

I've tried Ozone 10 for 7 days and I must admit that it was already great in V9 and V10's new features are not something which you should be using during mastering most of the time. From the new things the best and most useful feature is the soft clipper, it sounds nice but I feel like it's very limited. It doesn't have auto-gain on it and you can't see how much it's actually clipping (hear the delta signal as in Flatline for example). I feel like they they could focus more on it and maybe create it as a separate module instead. The Impact module was usually useless on most of the tracks I've tried it on and Stabilizer module made all of the tracks sound off and artificial no matter what settings I've tried. Even the lowest setting was making the tracks sound unnatural. If you have V8 or earlier I'd upgrade to V10 but if you got V9 I wouldn't upgrade at all and skip until they make the clipper the full-featured, separate module which you can also use on drums in a mix etc.

I like the demo and with respect to the tool, I really like the field graph. I have a little hearing loss in the right ear after gunfighting training for years and the graphs have always helped me 'balance' what I was hearing. The graph showed me that nothing goes whacko on the right and that I can trust what I hear in the left.

IMO the master assistant works great if the mix is balanced or already in the realm of known songs already. If it's a bad mix, the assistant can't really do much for it, but that's almost really the same as a master engineer too though.

I think the recover sides part of the imager is great. I feel like I've seen the other additions elsewhere in other plugins, but that recover sides slider seems unique as far as I can think.

Best review so far. My favorite module is the maximizer (Ozone 10). However, I don't think that the upgrade is a must. But, I still like. After I mix one or two more songs for my clients I'll update. LOL.

you were still using the Rock algorithm in the Stabilizer when you auditioned the Hip Hop and it was suggesting significant cuts in the very low and very high. i'm actually happy with this as a version update to Ozone. Not happy with the minimal changes in the new RX though- not worth it as a paid version update.

That second mix you tested was a hip-hop song but you still had it on the Rock preset, that was probably why the low end was attenuated. If you put it on the hip-hop preset it would have done changed what it did to the track. Edit: my bad it seems many others have noted this. Great video BTW

I would be interested to see a recut to where you were using the cut features but matched it to the genre. Example, in this video a hip hop setting instead of "rock" on the rap mix. Just out of curiosity if the values and micro dynamic changed.

Another great video. At 6:00 I believe you still had it on the Rock template after changing to a hiphop track. Do you think it would not have reduced the 'wrong' frequency if it was using the hiphop setting?

Thank you. Did you ever use a multiband compressor with slow attack times? I tried many times but it seems to me that's a tool that works weel only on fast attack and release times. Why would we need to make snappier or punchier a limited range of frequencies??

Too generic, setting are not based on what processor you use but on what material you use it and for which purpose. Fast settings on low range are usually a no go, for starters

Hi David! At 6:00, you left the "Rock" setting on the stabilizer while using hip-hop mixes. That's why it was cutting 6k that much! ;)

@@shinobi-1entertainment123 I’m liking it too on most things (I’m usually using it on a couple of busses) but if ozone can do the same for $100 vs. $200 I’ll take it lol. I tend to lean towards the cheaper side of plug-ins vs the $300+ plug-ins and stay looking for deals 🙂

Two questions David: is it worth the upgrade? Second - are you running the demo Ozone 10? I am (I'm on a Mac) inside PT and get the same error message you got when PT tried to do autobackup. And a comment/heads-up: there is no more standalone version as iZotope dropped because supposedly there was little use of it. I did get another reason and this is from an iZotope person - they dropped it because they didn't want to spend the time & energy to update it.

No i'm not running demo, I had this for a while. I'm not sure how much is the upgrade but every single upgrade since v7 was totally worth it for me. I just REALLY wish they would make them backward compatible

@@adampeters9684 i added 15db of gain on a loop with the maximizer and limiter and it was not sounding as squashed like ozone 9 ... i would say try it

@@georgezorbas6422 The soft clipper just has oversampling on all the time, you can't turn it off. The Exciter module has an oversampling button.

I want the stand alone version back. With it, I can master a whole album without having to mess with a DAW. From now on, I will take the demo version first before spending my money. Not happy with Version 10.

I know that some of the best master engineer use ozone 10 and other similar products or products that they developed to assist them as a start, so when you guys do a video like this oh I'm not using the assistant view that's rubbish you guys are biased and the whole purpose of this video is to use the Master assistant so use it
