Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for tuning in for another video.
This is a pen that I have had on my wishlist for a couple of years now, maybe even longer. It’s the Opus 88 Koloro.

Another nice pen you have added to you collection. It is an interesting colour, subtle shading, and is complimented by the white finial. I agree whit the inks, they do compliment each other.

Hi Ray, the Colorverse Brunch Date ink matches the pink in the pen perfectly. It’s not a pink pink if that makes sense, more peach sort of undertone to it. I am very happy with it and it is writing so well too. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend 😊

What a pretty pen. I'm so happy for you. Love to hear how you like it over a period of time. The inks are so beautiful. Brunch date is a favorite but the earth and that blue one are very pretty.

That is a lovely pen! I have found that it sometimes helps to dip the nib on eyedroppers. Capillary action is the term I've heard.

Ooh thanks for that Shauna, that is very helpful. For a while there I was wondering what I had done wrong. Even when I had it standing up for 24 hours the ink still wasn’t reaching the nib. I worked out that it had created a vacuum in the body so once I played with that it worked then. 8 years on and I am still learning 😂 Hope you have a wonderful weekend 😊

Hi, I have one of those Opus 88's in Blue, I got mine from Larry Post, funny enough I inked it today. I have a 1.4 Stub and put KWZ Auzura no.5 in it and it's fire-horsing all over my lucky enough FP-friendly paper. I love it

Hi Chelsea, enjoy your new fire hose 😂 Yes I’m quite enjoying it, the Colorverse Brunch Date is the perfect colour for it and flowing very well. I knew they were eyedropper pens, I just wasn’t sure about the piston I could see inside. But I worked it out. Thank you so much for watching, have a wonderful week 😊

Lovely pen! I believe the Tono & Lims ink is in Japanese and you read it Kyokai, it means Cancer (as in the zodiac sign)😊

The Opus 88 Koloro pink colour reminds me of a coral/peach pink rather than Barbie pink. Regarding writing samples, I tend to risk spillage and tilt the sample vial to get the ink onto the dip pen, or if I'm not so lazy, I use an ink syringe and drop a droplet onto my dip pen. :D Ahahaha that sneeze caught me be surprise. I love that you're inverting the bottle as it's meant to be done instead of all those vigorous shakers I've seen in other KZfaqrs playing with shimmer inks.

Hi Mel, a coral/peach pink is exactly how you would describe it. It’s very subtle and very pretty. And the Colorverse Brunch Date such a good match for it! Thank you for the tips on using those tiny samples, I could definitely use a syringe to fill a converter so I can use them in a pen. The Kyo No Oto one has shimmer in it and is the prettiest and softest blue/grey, really lovely. I hope you feel better soon lovely, rest up and have a good weekend 😊

If I may .. the filling mechanism on the Opus 88 pens has nothing to do with vacuum filling. The piston-activated shutoff valve in there shuts down the ink flow from the barrel to the nib and feed to prevent leaking. You need to open up the knob at the bottom when you're writing to allow the ink to flow. Although there will be some ink in the feed to let you keep writing for a bit, it will stop writing if you keep the knob closed and the shut off valve activated.Looks like you got there in the end, but I'm hoping your viewers won't end up with a bad impression of the filling mechanism. I've never had a problem with these pens starting up. Enjoy your pen!

Hi Marilyn, yes I did that for 24 hours and had it standing up, still no ink was coming through. I read some reviews and others had the same problem and it had created a vacuum of sorts in the barrel which is why even with the valve open, no ink was coming through. Once I moved the piston a little bit, the ink started flowing and now all I have to do is open the valve when writing with it. Hope this makes sense. @@jppenandink Hello again! I just wanted to return and give you an update. I took a break from using fountain pens for about 3+ weeks and I picked it up again to test - it worked perfectly! I love this pen! The trick was to leave the back unscrewed a few turns so the feed wouldn't dry out. I am so pleased! I hope you are enjoying yours as well. ☺️

@@mybibliofiles hi there, I’m glad you got it working. The first time I filled mine even leaving the top unscrewed, the ink just wouldn’t flow. I read some forums and they said that some of them create a vacuum of sorts and that you need to pull the plunger up. Once I did this (just once) I had no problem and it has been in regular rotation! I actually had the same problem with my opus 88 minty. Turns out that the valve has to remain open for the ink to flow. Think pen. Beautiful, but girthy.

Hi Deb I had done this, but because of the piston inside it had created a vacuum of sorts. Once I moved it a little the ink started flowing. Now I’m really enjoying it. Thank you so much for watching and have a great week 😊
