Did a fitting today, and purposely didn't look at the brand/model of club I was hitting prior to swinging. These were the irons I hit the most consistently with. Not surprised to hear a positive review of them from someone far better than me!

Did you look at the lofts kn both of them though. The g425 7iron is 30. While the g430 is 29. So yes jt should be going farther with the g430

Solid and entertaining review!! I just purchased G430 irons 4 thru PW and absolutely loved my testing results. Spent nearly three hours at Club Champion International in New Orleans and although PXG's 5G irons were a close second, I chose the Pings due to a more consistent shot pattern. I'm ditching ten year old Callaway RAZR Tour irons and wow, what a difference in today's tech. Thanks for your review and I would encourage folks give these a try!

The PING EYE2 irons I purchased in the early 80s were the greatest golf clubs I ever used. Period. I foolishly sold them to an acquaintance who would never begin to appreciate them for what they were. I now play rarely, and my once 2-handicap is but a cherished memory. But I do hope to play more often in time, and my acceptable Calloways will be traded in on a set of these with True Temper steel shafts. PING ROCKS.

Got fit with these last week, upgrading from my current 1990s Ping Zings. My 7 iron carry’s 145 with medium height on a clean hit. The 430 7 iron carried 175 on a clean hit, and 165 consistently on all 4 day shots I hit, and the exact same on two thin shots, the difference, every single one was dead straight. The dispersion is absolutely insane with these on mishits. They weigh half as much, requiring a lot less grip pressure for me. I felt I swinging half as hard, half speed, half effort yet my CHS was identical to my zings. With the elevate shafts, drastically higher, can’t wait to get my set and start sticking more greens.

I don't own any Ping clubs, but whenever someone asks me what they should buy, my only suggestion is Ping - I figure even if they don't choose the exact optimal club, it will still be better, on average, than anything else they could have mistakenly purchased. My only comment on these clubs is they destroyed the gapping at the shorter end vs the now older 425s

Well the lofts are creeping again. Would just dropping the loft by 1 degree on the 7 iron automatically give you the extra yardage? My 34 degree 7i is now basically a modern 8i. The ping does sound great though.
@kourt2469
@kourt2469 3 күн бұрын
1 degree isn't going to even make a noticable chance. variables in your swing alone will change the amount of loft you deliver each swing. just bending an iron strong will lower launch which likely won't increase carry distance at all. OEMs combine stronger lofts with tech that helps launch the ball higher to give you more distance.

Hey Brother! I haven't looked at one of your videos since the first COVID lock down days, when Boris was PM! Years actually! March 2020! Anyway your backswing looks shorter, more compact, way less violent and all over the place! I say that to say this. Your swing looks nice, now! Still hitting is a long way with plenty of swing speed and nice strike factor! So not sure I am attributing all that to the Ping Club which in my humble opinion looks mega-unattractive and would be better suited in a ''Transformers Movie'' than in my Golf Bag! Continued success with your channel, thanks for posting and all the vey best! Liked and subscribed! How's dat!

A much more interesting review would be to compare these clubs with your current playing set, especially for accuracy and ball flight. Now, JUST SUPPOSE the results turn out better with the Pings. You will always need a GW if the PW is just 41 degrees. Nobody is going to gap this PW to a SW. So the labeling is just getting silly now, just rename them all with the iron below (so the PW becomes 9i) instead of introducing GW1 and even GW2 into a set.
@jayfron6012
@jayfron6012 Жыл бұрын
I agree, it’s a bit misleading when they say a set includes a PW, GW, but the gw tops off at 48. It just makes gapping weird with them labeled as traditional wedge. I preordered the new mizuno hot metals 5-PW,GW, got a 56 degree jaws wedge for the sand and am shipping for a 52 to fill the gap between the “gap wedge” and the sand wedge
@kooijbas
@kooijbas Жыл бұрын
@@jayfron6012 It's even sillier with the G430 since the first gap wedge is 45 degrees! Then they have another one at 50 degrees, then SW and LW at 54 and 58. But yes, I did the same thing with my T300 Titleist irons. Bought 6-GW with a 48 degree GW. Later ordered a separate 53 degree second gap wedge of the T300 which is now my most used club. I do almost all my chipping with that club. But bottom line, you can't order these modern sets without the GW, else the "gap" would be way to big to a proper Vokey GW. So just rename the clubs, it's silly having to carry 3 gap wedges.

Easy to get better yardages from newer clubs. Just lower the loft like has happened for 20 years. Pitching wedges were 48* loft. Now 44 or less. A 27* seven iron is not really a seven iron now is it? But fine, whatever sells clubs is what matters. Let’s visit a set of irons in 2022. Sets start mainly at a 5, sometimes a 4. They now require a gap wedge in every set. Hybrids take the place of irons or 7w and 9w. I just ordered a new set set of irons but they have a 46 degree PW. They start at a 4 iron. Hell the 4 iron is really a 3 iron in disguise.So I will not be able to hit just like my old clubs 3 iron.

Exactly. Less irons in the set and more wedges and hybrids to buy. But the price is higher also. Watch these KZfaq guys give their iron selection for approach shots. Using game improvement irons and taking them to be delofted by a club fitter. I’m not impressed when someone claims how far they hit clubs. I’m impressed only with the score.

Really easy for these manufacturers to advertise distance increases....change the lofts. They have all been doing it. I have a set of Callaway Mavrik's which are also cavity backed, game improvement irons. It is always fun when I step up with my buddies on a par three and we all pull our our irons and they are "shocked" when I pull out a 9 iron when they pull out 7 irons and we all land it near each other. The lofts are as follows: 5 iron - 21 degrees 6 iron - 24 degrees 7 iron - 27 degrees 8 iron - 31.5 degrees 9 iron - 36 degrees PW - 41 degrees. These are all around 1.5 to 2 clubs up from normal lofts. Normally a pitching wedge has a 46 or 48 degree loft. I don't want to claim it is false advertising but it is misleading for sure. It is giving golfers a false sense of "improvement" on distance when they aren't actually improving but they are just clubbing up. When you hit an 8 iron you are really hitting a 6 iron. Callaway, Taylormade, and now Ping all have at least one set of clubs like this now. Callaway Mavrik, Taylormade M4, Sim2, I don't doubt Titlist and any of the other big name brands don't also have a set, I just haven't gone down that rabbit hole. As long as you know they are doing this, that's okay, but you may need to add another wedge in your bag otherwise you are going to have a massive gap somewhere such as having a 46 degree attack wedge and a 56 degree sand wedge. You may need to find a 52 degree wedge to fill the hole.

I don't see the point in delofting irons for "more distance" because you just end up with yardage gaps lower down your bag. I think there should be a rule where each iron has to be within a certain degree for it to be stamped that number iron. There shouldn't be 7 irons at 31° and others at 26°

Bring on the on course head to head. I think you need to take them outside and play a par 3,4 and 5. One ball with your own gamer and the other with this club. Irons only.

G430 has stronger 7i than g425 and they got back to 4degrees of differences between clubs. So on one hand you lose increased gaping advantage for slower swing speed and on the other hand you end up with 5 WEDGES!!! 41 deg PW Rly? Even keeping current lofts why not call 45 deg club a PW and have this 29deg club be 6i (which is either way 2deg stronger than my 6i ;). Works the same and not having half of your bag as wedges :D

Mizuno have done the same with the 923. Unfortunately it's a race to the bottom between OEM's for who can have the strongest 7 iron to manipulate the uneducated golfer in the fitting chamber.

41 degree pw is insane, how many extra wedges are you going to have to carry?
@saturdayshanks3753
@saturdayshanks3753 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think there’s room for extra wedges. 7 irons, hybrid, wood, driver, and putter only leaves room for 3 wedges. Wedge gapping would be like.. 41° for the set’s PW, so you’d probably go 46° gap, 51° sand and 55° lob? It’s just insane.
@blaablaa945

@@saturdayshanks3753 99% of the people will not go with that 19 degree 4-iron with these. So it's 5-pw and something like 45,50,54 and 58. 6 irons, 4 wedges, driver, putter and 2 woods/hybrids. I think many will choose to not go with 5-iron either and have 3 woods/hybrids.

I just wonder to what degree this club is a "game improvement" iron, because I just do not see many players capable of swinging a 29 degree 7 iron at a 98 mph swing speed. If the "average golfer" has a swing speed of maybe 80-85 mph, I would think more loft would be better. (Maybe "Game Improvement for Strong Player??"). My 7 iron is 36 degrees and that is fine with me.

Game improvement as mentioned in the video: wider sole, bigger cavity, the stronger lofts which people need to understand is offset by CG location: Like in the video!

@@alexetchesgolf Thank for your RSVP. My point is - (for example) - I am a senior, swing speed with 6 iron (32 degrees loft) is 75 mph and distance is 150 yards. In that Ping set, that is about an 8 iron. Distance-wise, I doubt that my swing speed is fast enough to hit the 8 iron 150 yards. Forgiveness yes, distance no. So if these clubs are marketed towards beginners and seniors, it would be better for a beginner and/or a senior (rather than a powerhouse like yourself) to do the club testing AND comparison with alternatives like cavity back irons. Always enjoy your videos, very creative, keep 'em coming.

At 98mph club speed, of course you will get spin, heigth and 50deg descent angle. These clubs are meant for much slower swing speed.
