You have 2 of my favorite cars of all time now! I am so jealous... I would love to see it built with the newer Audi 5 cylinder (07k/EA855). I personally would love to have it in stock body, but a Group B inspired wide body, spoiler and light kit would be pretty epic! Cant wait to see what you are doing.

Mike, if you're going to take this down gravel road, please install PPF on the entire car. Gravel will tear up the paint. Also, my vote is to keep it looking stock from the outside. Upgrade the drive train and make it a sleeper. This car is an awesome pick! I can't wait to watch the build!

Yep, I had a X reg Mars read ur quattro with the same tiger strip interior. This should be good. I note yours is on the later wheels with a deeper dish. I have owned a few, WR, MB and RR also 3B and ABY engine S2’s. Beautiful cars and the sound. Hope it’s a RS3 20v 5 pot 🙏

Very excited to see how this project turns out! I would love to see one of these cars with the 5cyl from an RS-3 or TT-RS and a functioning DCT to go with it, but that would probably be nearly impossible and very cost prohibitive.

If that was built in 81' (as an 82 MY) then you have one of only a few 82 MY cars in the US. They started sales in 83' for the main US cars. I also have an 82 MY full euro spec car that was a grey market import back in the 80s. Congrats on the purchase! These cars are incredible for the time they were produced in. You have a perfect car to modify since its not original already! Hope that is a 20v 5cyl of some sort under that cover, either an old school or 07k! Have to keep those beautiful sounds!

I hope you put a heavily modified 5 cylinder from the TT RS/RS3 in there or the 4.2 V8 from Audi with a VF Engineering supercharger, custom headers and straight pipes in there.

Growing up in Ireland watching Group B rally cars attack some of the most technical blacktop roads, this project is close to my heart. While I would personally favour a Metro 6r4 (wildest looking rally car ever designed?) anything from that era fills me with excitement. When cars were cars, racing was racing and men were men (unless they were Michele Mouton).

How did only 1 person guess it right? It's the most famous rally car in history. Even under the sheets it's easy to see what it is. Wether that is by the squared shape of the front grille or the edges of the roof. That car is unmistakable.

I use to own Audi 80 B4 Quattro 2.3E.Best car I ever owned too this day, hands down. And that 5 cylinder motor is indestructible. It has only 98Kw, so it is underpowered, cause you could easily make 150 Kw power out of it, but because they made it only 98(or 96,I'm not sure) Kw, it runs, and runs, and runs... I've had it for 7 years, not one issue with that car. And I drove it like it was supposed to be driven. And one more thing. The motor had a blockage at 250kph, and I drove it 250 on Autobahn multiple times, no isuue what so ever. Great, great car. Just amazing. Ahhhhh, that German engineering...

I remember seeing a urquattro where the engine was based on the i5 VAG diesel block (also used by volvo back in the 80's) and then used all the gas stuff. I think you could do a fun I5 Mercedes turbo diesel in that thing and it would rock.

Wow, one of my absolute dream cars. I thought I was one of very few that likes the long wheel base more than the 'nimble' swb. Nice to see there are more that like the proportions of the LWB over the swb. Is it me or does it seem like the doors are a shade darker red than the rest of the car or is it the different material that makes it look like it. I cannot wait for next week's video. I really hope the engine under the cover is either an AAN, a 3B or an ABY. These may not be the most original choices, but, in my opinion, it would be a shame to see anything else in there considering how amazing the original Audi 5 cylinder design is. It would also be a pain in the ass to swap anything from another brand into there considering the slanted mounting position of the engine.
