In this tutorial we explain the basic use of Prop Foam 15. This is a 15lb density flexible foam for padding applications and prop weapons. This may be pigmented and also painted using out Clear Flex Paint.

Wow you guys are one of the first channels I ever subscribed to years and years ago. I love your stuff, molding and casting was fairly unknown here when you were doing this channel.. I wish you could list an Australian equivalent. But as always, great vids and info .

Check with Barnes. I think they have some of the same product lines we have.

Or, you could try Rowe Advanced Materials in S.A. (they are the main distributor of Reynolds/Smooth On's catalogue in Australia). Sorry, Mitch ... Barnes may be well known to most folks down here, but they charge (for a lot of their stuff) almost twice as much as Rowe on some product lines, and - in quite a few situations - you'll ask staff a simple question and get a blank stare in return; your average casual customer knows a lot more than their own staff does. And there were always plenty of places to buy supplies down here, but you had to locate them by yourself, and when you did, you sent as many people to them as possible, just so they could stay in business; those were the places that, after you'd purchased your supplies, whenever you asked an 'interesting' question of them, they'd pop out into the back, grab something similar to what you were asking about ... and ask you to test it for them, and pass on the results to them. That way, they could let other customers know, adding to their own knowledge base.

Thanks for your educational Video. I have just one question on the 15. Does this foam soak up and hold water? I am hoping not.

I have not done any testing with water. That is uncharted territory.

What would you recommend as a good value if a great quantity of 12”x6” - ish copies are needed - a floor piled with bricks or stones - where density, finish etc are open ended?

A low density foam like Prop Foam 4 might be a good option. Call us during business hours and we'll see what we can help you with.

Thanks for all the great tutorials. Does Prop Foam 15 expand around four times whatever the volume mixed?
@brickintheyard

It's 15lbs per cubic foot in free rise, but I don't know what that translates to.

I have some arriving this week. I’ll test it and let you know. Four times expansion is my experience with other 15lbs foams.

Do this foam require a Gasmask to be used? even if i stay outside and pour it..and is it moisture sensitive ?

This doesn't off gas too bad. A well ventilated area is recommended. A respirator is never a bad idea, esp. if you are sensitized to Polyurethanes
