Growing up we had a neighbor who had a flock of sheep and every fall he would butcher a couple of the young ones and roasted them on a White Oak wood fire. At about twelve PM the crowd would show up and purchase the roasted lambs. He would do that till he had used all of his Lamb stock. John did that for a number of years and he had a very good following. He was the person who taught me how to capture and care for Bees.

I have watched a video in the past of a young farmer who used the duckweed from his pond to supplement his pigs feed. It came out with a very high ratio of omega 3's in the meat. Just a thought/idea.

JudithB Grazing around the house and garden will do a great cleanup for you. The sheep might be good in the garden too, since they are lighter then the cows and may not hurt the ground cover. I turn my chickens into my garden during winter, since the hoop beds are covered over the greens I have planted. I never raised sheep since a milk goat was problem enough!!! LOL!!

we drove to near Albuquerque to watch the eclipse . As a partial you have to be pretty close to the pass to see any real dimming of the sky . We were at the full eclipse in northern Missouri years ago and it did get pretty dark then! Well thats one way to find out if the fence is hot!!! done that dont want to do it again, got bit by 110 a time or so too!!! have fun and take care..

I felt that when you got shocked hooking the fence up it made me jump when it popped I hate getting shocked like that. I was hoping yesterday would have been clear enough to see the eclipse but as usual when anything like that goes on its normally cloudy or rainy that day around here, but I went to the covered bridge festivals first full opening day yesterday I ended up dodging rain drops off and on, but it was still a good time.

Evan, have you looked into getting a small motor for your John boat and rigging out some skimmers to move all that duck weed to the drainage area? It might not work at all and may only work in a rainy period when the level was helping with some overflow drainage. If you have a friend with a small motor he is willing to loan to you for a test run it could be worth your while. I’d think a small motor like a 10 or 15hp 4 stroke would do the job and those size motors are very efficient. They take all day to use up 3 gallons and the 4 stroke motors don’t foul plugs running all day at trolling speeds like a 2 stroke is famous for. Maybe an electric trolling motor that can use your ECO cells would be the answer. Good luck. I hope it works. It’s a real shame to see that nice large pond rendered useless by that vegetation.
