About the front short rows…my understanding is that the designer wanted the stitches to mimic wearing a string of pearls…

Instead of ripping out twisted rid bottom, try separating like you would do for after thought heel. Put 2 lifelines a couple of rows above the ribbing, with one row between the lifeline. Cut and remove middle row and then put top of sweater on needles and knit additional length then kitchener stitch the ribbing back to the sweater!

From another Ranunculus hold-out, thank you for this!! You echoed my feelings about the Ravelry listing, I find the pictures so unappealing for my body type that I definitely didn’t get the popularity. But your pink one looks great to me-the green one does too but I really like the extra length on your pink one. This might’ve just earned a spot in my queue.

I am so happy to find your channel today. I'm one of the few people that haven't knit the ranunculus mainly because the photos I've seen are unattractive and not my style. Your version is so much more to my liking. Your comparison is very informative and I can't wait to cast on my first. Thanks from you newest subscriber!

I really appreciate the comparison you detailed on your two ranunculus sweaters. It was very helpful because I bought the pattern some time ago but have been hesitant to jump in yet. Feeling more confident now. The yarn you used is beautiful and I like both colors. They both look good on you but I do think the green one is a little more flattering because it is more slim looking on you. Thank you for keeping Rocky in the video. You would have lost me if you had deleted him!

Hey Leslie! You nailed it regarding the Ranunculus pictures. I just made my first one about a year ago. Last night I dreamed about doing the short rows on the back. I omitted them on one of the 2 I've made and I do prefer that look. Next one I make I plan to extend Them slightly 2 hopefully omit the little bump I get at the center back. If we lived closer together I would definitely volunteer to frog and lengthen your green one for you, But I'm in tennessee. I have that Catedral Pattern but I'm having second thoughts about knitting a bottom up sweater. Good luck on yours! I think we are about the same size and I LOVE when you give details about how your sweaters fit! Ok back to my Musselbourgh hat. I'm also late to THAT party, but I have one skein of yarn that wants to be a hat and I bot the pattern a year ago, so here goes. Now THAT'S some tv knitting right there!

Thank you for your in depth comparison of the Ranunculus tops…very informative, as I’ve literally just casted one on and just finished the neck but am not sure if I wanted the short town in the front or not, and now you’ve helped me make that decision, I will not add them in the front. I like your idea of having light coloured buttons on your Seasons cardigan. If they are dark the eye will go straight to the buttons and will not show off your beautiful sweater but the clear sparkly ones would be perfect imo.

Watching this just as I’m about to do short rows on my ranunculus! I decided to omit the front ones based on your pink one, as I think it looks awesome. For the grey cardi, how about a dark abalone or stone texture button?

Enjoyed your detailed debrief on your two projects. I've had Ranunculus in my queue forEVER. I own the pattern, just haven't made it for many of the same reasons you describe. I like your suggestions on the math and I'll take a look at that video. Definitely understand why the length would be an issue. I also think I would prefer to use fingering weight... so we'll see. But thank you for your wonderful insights. I enjoy your channel. Congrats on 2,000+!

Pink perfection! Don’t overthink it. Its very flattering without making you look too busty. Its gorgeous and if you feel good thats just a plus! I am less busty and used a fluffy yarn so mine looks different. Of course I am 72 yrs old so modesty was a definite desire.

It's me! I've never knit a ranunculus! Probably one of the few who haven't. I know everyone loves adding mohair but not me. I live in a warm climate and I'm not really into the mohair. However, I've seen how beautiful it looks on you and I really want to try a short sleeve one, probably in a sport or dk. So thank you for all the helpful hints. I'm also working on the catedral. I've seen a couple of comments about the sleeves being too small and I believe the designer said to add increases to get the desired width. Love the seasons cardigan, I say it every time!

With your green Ranunculus you could snip above the rib and pick up stitches on two circs knit down 3 inches and then Kitchener the rib back on. Love both of yours, maybe I will knit one afterall. I agree regards the cable cast on.

I so agree with you on the premier of the Ranunculus pattern being unflattering on the models. I’m glad knitters out there fixed the image of it by adjusting the finished size. I didn’t knit one for about a year after it first came out and enough examples showed a better fit. I do like your green Ranunculus color better than the pink and also agree it needs to be a bit longer. Have you thought of cutting at the rib, knitting another inch or so and reattaching the rib? I’ve seen other vloggers do this…😊

If you want to lengthen the green one, what if you picked up just above the rib and then cut your yarn and knit and then kitchener it back together.... like what knitty natty did on her Rhinebeck sweater last year... that way you don't have to reknit the rib
