NEW Reborn Lancia Rally 037 Group B Restomod // World Exclusive 1st drive Review.
The 80s are back in this episode, when Jonny Smith returns to Maturo Competition Cars in The Netherlands (where he drove the incredible Restomod Delta Integrale) to get the keys to their recreation Lancia 037 WRC car.
Available to order, this reborn 037 uses the same 2.0 Lampredi 16v twin cam Volumex supercharged mid-engined layout as the original, but has been built better and safer for historic rally or road fun.

There's Porsche, Saab, Volvo, Citroen, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Fiat to name a few that have quirkiness, engineering, racing pedigree, innovation, all of it. Lancia comes on top of them all. There was a time when they were the cars for whom wanted understated yet elegant and dead gorgeous, luxurious and beautifully engineered cars. Also they weren't afraid of trying, questioning the norm and make things their own way. They have built the best rally cars ever, they race rally and many other track disciplines including endurance racing simultaneously, something not many or any other manufacturers can say, all through the amazing yet small (compared to others) Abarth team. Coolest brand on the Planet, by far. May well Maturo Competition keep bringing these beauties to the road and their owners enjoy them fully. Thank you Johnny, another cracking episode with my favorite rally car of all time.

I'm currently restoring a 1975 Puma GTE here in Paraguay, and I'm hoping to eventually do a homage to the 1980 Puma GTE team that came to compete in the Transchaco Rally, Paraguay's toughest motorsport competition. This kind of project is hugely inspirational. My budget is a tiny fraction of what this car costs, but the idea of being able to drive around in my own little rally car is such a powerful motivator. Thank you.

HI , Yes, he did enjoy the creation of his car, as a homage to the originals. Rather than using fibreglass, etc, as the original body panels were,I believe, he created his own panels using mild steel. He used his own equipment specially purchased for the job, thus creating quite a unique replica! Good luck with your own build! 👋
