4 ай бұрынToday the whiskey the two of us have been waiting 8 years for. Finally, our favorite store's in parking lot distillery is putting out something with a bit of age. Still a touch young 8 is a strong age statement in the bourbon world. Coming in as a bottled in bond product 100 proof 50% abv just works well here.

I hope that becomes a common thing. Then again...I want a 12 year so don't use up too many barrels!

Honestly, they did something better than even our review I think. Been doing some comps with older whiskies. Yeah it's a touch green...but it's holding up well with older whiskies at higher proof in mouth feel and finish.

@@topshelfdustin3060 I suppose it is a bit of a crapshoot on if the whiskey would age well. Their lower barrel entry proof of 105 was designed to have a faster turn around at an earlier age. So now we are closing in on a decade and we all have our fingers crossed that it won't be overtaken by the time in oak. From the review, it sounds like they are on a great path. I will also note that a lot of recent single barrels have seen a jump in proof. Prior to 2022, many of the 4 year olds were under 55%. The last couple years I've noticed barrels hitting 115 proof or higher. Could be conditions or rickhouse locations but I hope they aren't raising entry proof as of late to spread the new make out further.

Hope it comes to my area. I haven’t tried any New Riff yet I’ve looked at them several times but just passed. But I’ll see if I can pull the trigger on the bib or single barrel soon. I hadn’t had any Penelope till recently and I got their 9 year and it’s very good. Nice review. Enjoy!!

if you saw the malt, I think you'll be golden. The pnelope 9 vs this is a good idea....but I might have killed my bottle...I'll have to check.

Is that one 100 proof? Love their SiB SPs. So easy drinking and crushable.

Very reasonable price! Wow 100 proof! Sounds amazing! You are talking 50% ABV correct? 8 years isn’t bad! I like new Riff a lot so far with their Rye.

@@topshelfdustin3060the label has been submitted for an 8 year rye. So, fall release I assume? A friend also gave me a sample of the High Note 8 year Malted Rye cask strength at ~118 proof. Gotta do myself a side by side with the 6 year Malted BiB soon.

@@javieracosta3439 man just crack that and enjoy. No need to compare to the 6, they don't compare. That's a whisky worthy of a night alone with! That said good to hear about an 8 year rye. Their ryes have been their bread and butter so I'm excited.

I have a bottle and love it. How does it compare to Michters 10?

It doesn't. The most recent release of the 10 were almost all 12-14 year old CS barrels. This isn't remotely in that range. Now the 10 I think Mike reviewed many years ago...they might be a bit closer. But that last release of the 10 was a world beater. This is just good quality bourbon!
