Been very excited to get this rifle and get it running properly. It did have a few teething issues but they have all been resolved and now it works very well! I'm very keen to get it out and put it to work!

He is firing reloads. That can always cause issues as they have been fired in another rifle first.

Great honest review, pitty you had to change out some components just to make it usable. Surely the manufacturers have to take notice of required changes. I too watched Jack struggle with simple weapon drills. Great to see 2 Aussies using Aussie suppliers, but they do need to listen to operators and feedback to make this competitive. I was surprised how rough the action was and the treatment required to use this weapon.

Congrats on your new rifle. That many problems out of the box is a concern. Then the problems Jack OB was having makes me cautious about buying one! I'll keep an eye on their performance in the future!

Definitely stay tuned. It is just an isolated issue and they did replace every persons mags that had issues with the Magpul ones.

Full length size, make sure the shoulder and web are to spec. (If you don't already) As far as I have experienced ADI brass is very consistent if annealed and FL resized.

It was only an isolated issue with the gun itself. When would not have been noticed with just a few test loads. As to the mag they just sent them out as they couldn’t get the Magpul mags at the time.

Jeez, it has a lot of issues out of the box, They are lucky that you are clever enough to sort the problems out, You'd think though that these would have been sorted out in their testing, before putting into the market, very shoddy workmanship. makes me wonder what might go wrong down the track. A very good vid though mate, appreciated.

The only issue with the gun was the mag catch which so far has been a once off. The mag was just a different brand that they normally use. All the rest was just my customisation.

ive got one, never had a problem cycling ive used federal and adi rounds no problem also only have pmags. im assuming that you oiled the rollers bolt and buffer tube spring, SLICKS IT RIGHT UP

Hey mate, that's a good, honest video on a very desirable firearm! It's great to note that the only real problem with the Wedgetail was the magazine release catch and that the problem was corrected in a reasonable timeframe. 👍

Exactly as they should. First generation items definitely need a good feedback loop. Aussie manufacturers have a tough battle to get products out the door due to a limited local manufacturing capability and difficult import process - Wedgetail have done a pretty good job I reckon, despite the minor issues. @@intothenight1993

congrats on the new rifle. You may have better luck with your reloads if you use a .308 small base sizing die. I had the same problems with my reloads cycling in an AR platform. My reloads would function fine in my bolt rifles but not the semi-autos. I started using the small base sizing dies and making sure the cases were trimmed to the correct length. Good luck hunting the hogs and dogs.

I use that G96 cleaner/ oil too Josh. I think it's great stuff. Also use the good old Ballistol too. Both have been great for me.

yeah josh, as i thought uncle google said "The Small Base Sizer Die is for bottleneck type cases used in tight-chambering semi-automatic, pump or lever-action firearms. The sizer resizes cases below SAAMI minimums, reducing the shoulder and body by a few thousandths." it might be worth looking into. Anyway, all the best with the new rig, once you get it working properly it will definitely be worth it, the quicker cycle time is going to mean more pigs/dogs down for sure.

As soon as I started watching I thought about the problems Jack out the back had with it recycling amo. I believe he changed his magazine to get over the problem of recyling. Drop the guy a line I'm sure he will tell you.

Jack was using PPU ammunition, which Wedgetail Industries specifically advises against - along with reloads. Jack did not seem to have any issues with any other factory ammunition.

have you resized your brass ?? correctly trimmed to the correct throat length of the case checked the projectile gap between the bolts face? and the Rifes? barrel cases seem way to tight i thing the issue in your reloading process

Yes, yes, yes and yes. I think it could be that I wasn’t cleaning the hornady oneshot case lube off the shells afterwards. So now I’ll tumble them after full resizing them and use my new ADI brass and also change to a different slower burning powder. 🤞

Full length sizing but I haven’t been cleaning the hornady one shot case lube off. I’ve now got a case tumbler and going to try new adi brass and a different powder and see if that makes a difference.

You were so happy at the start of the video, but got more serious as the video went on, shame to see, and I hope it wears in and becomes more reliable for you. Surely a bit of QC at the factory would go a long way, as it’s lot of coin for a rifle with major issues straight out of the box, I will stick with my Tikkas I think, all the best mate!

For the price of the gun, it is disappointing that you needed to modify it as much. Good that Wedgetail took care of you and fixed the initial issues. Maybe Wedgetail can learn from your experience and improve their product. I have heard that is what they are doing with feedback from owners.

I didn’t need to modify it. The whole idea of the AR Platform is that you can customise it to how you like it. Different people like their guns to feel different.

Will be interesting how it compares in the field & how the opposition reacts. Hopefully not collapsed with laughter listening to a jam and words vulgar etc. It's really noisy, the action is probably ok for standing shot but with a rest will have issues compared to bolt/lever so will be interesting. How it handles the dust and jolting will have it's interest too. Standing shots on mobs might be ok. Would be taking the old gun for a ride too until absolutely sure it's the duckz nutz. Good luck with it.

If i remember correctly Ozzie put one of these through its paces and had all sorts of trouble with it. Think he returned it and received another one which seemed ok. Maybe you got one of the early ones made. Check the serial number. It is not good watching you having to deal with these problems before even firing a shot. Using your reloads fired in another rifle was not a good idea as these shells were fired to fit a different chamber. Hope all the gremlims are fixed and cant wait to see it in action. Only problem with the pump is you cant leave it on the tripod and step back without it falling over.

No this one is a gen 2 and the only issue was an isolated one that was an easy fix. To e rest of the mods was just for customisation that it only for personal preference and not necessary. And works as expected now (extremely well)👌

Gosh Josh. Wouldn't that give you the Tom Tits. Never mind the main thing is it's all fixed now so you can go out and give the critters buggery. Makes the the whole thing sweeter when it goes to plan. but being on the land you should know that doesn't happen all that often. What I liked about this show was that you didn't bullshit and that to me is an honest man. I'm glad its all worked out for you mate. Now that you've got a rapid fire rifle won't turn you into an american shooter will it, 150 shots for 1 pig? LOL. I don't think those bloke's could hit a bull in the bum with a bucket of wheat if they were swinging off its tail.

Your cases jammed the first 3 times "after fireing". You NEED to full length size your cases, even crush them a lil if its still hard to chamber or eject. I know in my 7600 i cant use fireformed or neck sized cases, even my old 30/30 was the same. Also you dont use reloaded cases fireformed in other guns, chamber sizes differ between guns..

It was mostly the powder I think. I have since tried some with 2208 powder and it’s been good but I was using 2206H powder previously and it burns slightly faster. But it still won’t take PPU brass. It must be slightly thicker or something.

That's a good point. Unless the cases have been fully resized, there will be issues as the case was sized for the chamber in the original rifle.

The only plastic on it is the Magpul butt stock and the dust cover. The rest is all good quality and well made. No issues.

Same problems I had with mine mate. Brand new and I had feeding problems and the shells getting stuck. They told me to replace MFT mags with magpul after they supplied them haha but I’ve stuck with Federal Premium ammo and haven’t had a problem yet but I’m not a happy customer

@@chocky223even with the magpul magazines mate I’ve had problems. It’s not the magazines I reckon the gun is very picky on ammo. I’ve tried a few different ones but Sakos and Federals seem to be the only ones not getting jammed

Well I have no affiliation with the company and showed my honest process of how it functioned for me. And it wasn’t all the fault of the rifle but it did has it’s issues. But now they have been resolved and it works well. It is important that people are aware of them so they can check them before they buy but also for the company to make sure their quality control is better.

Somehow it seems bulky and clunky, loses target each cycle and sounds like a tank turning around in the garden, For some types of shooting this is ok it seems. It will also be interesting how it handles the volume shooting, that may be an advantage or not. Hard to go past a good reliable bolt action is the conclusion, or lever if speed & convenience is important. Again, volume might compromise that idea, needed on camels, not on dogs & small pig mobs.

@@barearmz2794 It uses any ammo that is not total shit. We can't control the quality control at the PPU factory in Serbia. PPU jams in lots of different rifles. Google 'PPU ammunition jamming' and tell me I'm wrong. PPU is cheapest centerfire ammunition in Australia for a reason. Likewise for reloads. If a rifle works great with quality factory ammunition and barely at all with reloads, what does that tell you? If you can replicate factory quality standards and dimensional tolerances with your reloads, you'll have no trouble, but we can't control that either.
