That's my plan for when the RYI818BT drops. I'm going to use it to charge my Ryobi batteries on board and its inverter or USB to charge my non-Ryobi batteries. All with solar.

I have the first version, it's really handy having 120v power that can use Ryobi batteries. Great for camping, or power outages. My only complaint is that it's not pure sine, so things like fans really don't like it. (they will work but they run very hot) That said it's great for being able to charge practically anything even things like camera batteries etc that may not have a USB charger. The new version looks pretty cool too given you can also charge the battery with it. I might need to grab one at some point.

I have ryi150 things a tank dropped it and sparked it still works! Flashes red constantly and still charges. Definatly impressed by thus new one though. The fact that you can reverse charge batteries is kinda genious. You can charge the baterry on the way to work on the carport and leave the big charger in the truck on smaller jobs where you may only need one or 2 batteries. If you need a quick charge pull out your phone charger. Smart will definatly get it when its on sale

Great video! I read most of the comments and I didn't see anyone mention this......if you get a cigarette lighter adapter/charger with a usb-C output, you can charge your ryobi batteries in you car. We just had a 2.5 day power outage so I've been searching for this capability. I will be buying a couple of these new ones. HD's current price is $79. edit.....it doesn't look like there's a battery at that price.

@@brucey5585 We lost power for 8 hours earlier this month and my little 150w inverter came in handy. I have a portable 6.5kw generator that will run my whole house. Unfortunately it was stuck in my shed because my car was sitting in front of the door with part of a fallen tree on top of it. Want to guess where my chainsaw was? It was dusk when I came home to this and there was no way I was attempting to saw that up in the dark. I'd really like to have a standby generator but they are expensive and we seldom lose power for more than a few minutes.

There are 2 different models of Ryobi inverters in Australia. I just picked up a kit containing a 150W inverter, 4Ah battery and a solar panel for $199 on clearance (reg. price $299) from Bunnings.

The 120 Volt Power Suply I Have Still Works. But It Comes In Handy When Evet I Need It. Thatone You Showed Would Be Good For Someone Who's On The Go. If I Got The Newone I'd Use It while I Was Out & About I Could Use It To Charge My Phone & Table Bt Speaker But I Have One Of Those Chargers I Plug Into The Joystick Of My Powerchair.

There's ryobi inverter (aka power station) with 8 slots for 18v batteries, and another model with 4 slots for 36v batteries. The method is called "spend more money" :D

I wished they fixed the original flaw on these inverters. There should be a off on switch on the USB port. THe inverter draws small power to step down the voltage to 5v. So if battery is left plugged into the inverter it slowly drains your battery and after a few days the battery is done.

Ordered one last night, picked it up today. Thought I would really like this, but after charging the battery (at least the four green lights indicated full charge) I got an error (red/green flashing) indicating charging fault. Took the battery out and checked the connections, put the battery back in and the green light came on solid. Ten minutes later, it was back to a red/green flashing error. Took it back to Home Deport to exchange it, but it took forever to get someone to come up and unlock the cabinet to get a replacement, so I just returned it.

Sorry to hear you got a dud. I used mine yesterday to power a camera for four hours and there was still 25% charge on my 4ah battery when I was done.

@@martygenska8117 I know how you feel, I bought a jacket at Tractor Supply a couple of days ago, it was the last Medium size in the store and it didn't have a price tag on it. It took three associates on two computers to find the SKU number on-line so they could ring it up. The customers lining up behind me weren't too happy, but I was not going to leave without it.

There are LOTS of charging cables available on Amazon, some include things like inductive charging for Apple Watch. If you are charging something that requires PD charging with a USB-C port, it's best to use a simple USB-C to USB-C cable. However, items that do not require high current can be successfully charged with a USB-A multi-charging cable like the one I have. Sure a pure sine wave would be better and the modified sine wave may be a deal beaker for some and I know better than to plug anything sensitive into the 120v plug. My main reason for getting the RYI150C is to use the USB-C PD port to power and charge my mirrorless camera batteries when there's no 120v power available.

The new inverter has the same 150watt maximum output on 120v AC, although others have said it can actually go a little over 150w. Scroll through the comments below, Ryobi has a newer (more expensive and larger) inverter that is well over 150w.

@@Koolbob2 The amp is only 20 watts. I think it has something to with how the power is converted from DC to AC. I was curious as to whether Ryobi addressed the problem.

@@cbgslinger well most inverters don’t produce a true sine wave and that may affect the amplifier’s sound. Home Depot is pretty good about accepting returns, you could give one a try.

The bummer is, with the newer version you have to turn on everything(include AC) in order to use either the LED light or the usb c charging port. The AC itself will consume more than 2W even nothing connects to it, huge waste of energy. I wish it has a dedicated button for the AC outlet though, while all other things share another switch

If the cpapp draws less than 150w then it should work. This is the smallest power source Ryobi makes, they have larger capacity power sources that operate off their 18v or 40v batteries that might be even better.

Wow, that's weird! I've used mine to power my digital camera for many hours at a time and charge my phone during power outages with no problems. Some ideas: try a different USB cable, unplug and reinsert the Ryobi battery, make sure the Ryobi battery is charged. I wonder if the charger thinks it isn't being used and shuts off, can you see that your phone is charing when it times out?

I don't see why not, you can charge a Ryobi battery connected to this using any USB-C PD source. A USB-PD cigarette adapter and USB cable should do the trick.

I've found a few uses for mine. Besides keeping laptops, iPads and cell phones going when the power goes out I use it to power a camera and recharge the camera's battery when I'm shooting wildlife photos from a hunting blind for hours on end. It also beats using up four "D"-cell batteries or toting a 100' extension cord when I want to bring my Pickleball ball launcher to the courts to practice. :)

Charging your typing batteries and using it as a power bank for cell phones, tablets and laptops are the main reason people buy this. But you can also power a CPAP machine overnight if you have a power outage, a small fan for ball games or camping trips, an internet router during a blackout, 24 inch LED tv for a couple hours (or more with a bigger battery). I’ve done all those already. Never thought of a pickleball launcher though, I gotta try that!

@@gunfighterzero I wasn't familiar with the RYi8030A, it looks like a great solution if you need 120v/300w when powered by a 18v battery and don't mind lugging it around. I bought the RYI150c to power my mirrorless camera via USB-c PD when I'm photographing wildlife in a blind and need to shoot photos/video for hours at a time so it is perfect for my needs and takes up very little room in my backpack.

Different devices have different needs. 30W is plenty for my mirrorless cameras, but not enough for my laptop. If you want/need 100w, then yes you will need something bigger and more expensive.

I do buy the extended warranty on larger items like power washers. The first Ryobi electric power washer I bought died after about 18-months and Home Depot exchanged my dead power washer with the newer improved model for free under the extended warranty. I bought a new extended warranty with my 'free' replacement power washer and had it replaced under warranty a couple of years later. :) I usually don't buy extended warranty for cheaper items like the 120v/USB power source.
