I'm really excited about Coach Macdonald. I love the way he takes control of a room and answers questions up front and honestly while also being very direct. He hasnt even had 48 hours yet to process this so I'm sure his head is spinning and he's tired. But he has a style about him where you can tell he's going to shoot you straight every time. I have a feeling the team will love to play for him. LFG!!!! Go Hawks!!!!

To be honest, when they said Dan Quinn was the front runner, I was a little scared. Which made me look at other candidates, and after doing some research, I really was hoping coach Macdonald would be our guy couldn't tell you how happy I am to have this man coaching our team!!

I am on an island, he says he is monotone, and he totally is. With teams around the league largely hiring motivators like Pete was, like Campbell and Holmgren etc. and we are going with Mr. Monotone? Says he will keep the culture but the HC largely sets the culture, Pete sure did. Hopefully works out, but really not sure where the optimism is coming from.

A breath of fresh air honestly. We need that directness and give-it-to-you-straight mentality. It kinda got tiring hearing Pete beat around the bush/dodging questions with indirect answers. Pete was great during his time here but the constant false-hope he kept instilling on his players (while making no effort to grow/change philisophy) was kinda exhausting. Was getting tired of tuning into the end-game speeches and every time hearing "Can we win it in the 1st? NO!" Why couldn't we?

Man I really like this guy. I really hope they decide to bring Pete Carroll back as an advisor or a coordinator's assistant. I think Mike has the tools and the vision to do the job in a changing game and Pete Carroll has the wisdom and enthusiasm to motivate the players to perform at their highest level. Mike is the discipline and Pete is the positive motivator who motivates thru encouragement. Would make an unbeatable duo.

"Defense dictates terms to the offense." This is the difference between Mike and Pete. Pete only preached the correct reaction, not dictating terms. That's why we were so porous.

I mean he'll bring a similar culture, accountability, toughness etc which is already a pete thing. I'd say where pete differed from a lot of places is how he allowed people to have fun and be themselves. He said it best, he wants to keep the positive side of petes culture, but maybe tweak some things, but ultimately he wants these guys to be excited to come to work and that is the crux of petes culture

Qb isnt a high need right now. Really another pass rusher get patrick queen and another linebacker and we can keep julian love and quandre diggs i think jamal could be used right with a new hc but he might be too injury prone. But our biggest problem is no pressure which we could solve by getting another good defensive end maybe 2 and real olb’s

McDonald might be the greatest dude who ever lived but even he, being brutally honest, would agree that he's not an upgrade over Carroll. Defense is far from the Hawks only problem. Rush offense was 5th worst in the league last year and the air attack was middle of the pack. The offense was one note. Shut down Geno, which isn't hard to do, and you don't have to worry about the run. I understand going younger. I feel that allowing Carroll his swan song and a say in who succeeds him would go a long way towards maintaining that Super Bowl lineage.
