Awesome job. I am a 59 yr old female that is trying to move onto my land and I have been considering converting a metal shed into a home. You gave a lot of valuable information and it made this journey a little less intimidating. I look forward to your electrical video.

I just got a 40x60x16 shop built with 2 12x14 doors and one man door with 12' over hang on front. Concrete was 18" around the border and 4"-5" in center. The shop was insulated. It was $ 81000

I had a 30x30x12 with two 10" roll up doors and a man door built back in April 2023. The concrete cost me 8K and the building was $12,200 after taxes so right at $20K total. I got a 40 year warranty as well so I was pretty stoked about that. My only gripe is the spacing between the supports. 57 inches between supports so when I go to insulate it I will have to use a 4X8 sheet and cut a 9 inch piece to go next to it to fill in the space. I'm going to use the 2 inch closed cell foam board from Lowes.
@AllPistonsGarage
@AllPistonsGarage 11 ай бұрын
I agree about the spacing between the supports and if I was insulating I would probably go with the 4x8 sheets as well. I wanted vertical sides and that would have required 48” between supports but I was limited $ so I had to sacrifice some things but I’m happy. The way prices is going if I kept waiting to get my $ wright I may never have gotten it.

I ordered my 30x30x12 building from carport central Feb 2022 at $15,000.4 months prior in oct 2021 the cost was $13,000 and i could not get concrete till Feb. I should have put a deposit on the building and locked in the price.... 30x30 concrete pad was $4500.00 . West Virginia
@AllPistonsGarage
@AllPistonsGarage Жыл бұрын
I did lock mine in thankfully the seller told me that could happen but your concrete was cheaper than mine and is 2ft bigger my concrete 4” pad was $6,300 plus the extra $650 for the extra 5ft for the apron in front to give me a 7ft apron

Hello from FL Big Bend. I’m in the process of a building. The reason the reseller needed pictures of slab is because the manufacturer won’t start cutting material until slab is down. Surprisingly I have found out there’s actually three different companies involved in this type of building. The reseller takes the order, submits it to manufacture. Once ready, the reseller has subcontractors on call to do erection. Makes warranty kinda scary.
@AllPistonsGarage

@@timmcwilliams8024 I ordered mine from Eversafe whom I think is the manufacturer but then it got passed to a Florida company I assume because of Florida requirements and engineering stamp. I believe Carolina Carport is a “manufacturer”. I also checked with Hornet Buildings in Adel GA.

It's a lot cheaper if you just get the carport style with just the roof. His is 24x40, we just stick framed the ends and hung the side metal ourselves. Overall he gave $5800 for the structure and we had less than $3500 in the rest of the material. Roughly around $6k in concrete. Still has to buy his door but I like an insulated overhead door. The building dealers charge a substantial amount for any add ons you make. One thing about it tho, nothing is cheap anymore. You got a good looking building

Thank you! I’m mechanically inclined but I cannot build a cardboard box with directions on the side just not my strong point 😂 Wished I could do like you guys and could have saved some $ but with me doing it not going to happen. Thanks for watching and sharing your information because someone might can save some money that can build.
@towtruckaj
@towtruckaj Жыл бұрын
Yeah generally nothing is included, with steel it seems you almost always have to find a separate builder, with post frame I was able to get a builder who quoted me for the building and erecting and they buy the package and they build it, but site prep is not included so I have to get someone to prepare the site before they can build the structure, and you are definitely right about size it jumps significantly in price as you get bigger, I’m having a 36x48 built and the post frame structure itself erected is 42,800 not including site prep.

Nice shop and I am sure you would put it to good use. Just curious if the dealer offers options like smaller spacing between rafters (yours is 5'?). For interior buildout, it seems that a 4' spacing might be easier to use, but obviously more money. Interesting note about the cost increases for wider buildings, as that requires MUCH beefier trusses. I guess if you need more square footage, it is better to get a deeper shop instead.
@AllPistonsGarage
@AllPistonsGarage Жыл бұрын
Yes you can get 4ft between rafter studs and in Florida that is 170 mph wind hurricane rated where 5ft between studs & rafter is considered 140 mph hurricane rated but it also drives up the cost. Thank you for watching.

Good info. Nice shop, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. A friend built one like this and the thing I didn't like and he didn't either is the personnel doors. The doors are small and have a built in trip hazard. It's cheaper than red iron building.

As a contractor, when you have them give you a rock bottom price, yes any additional items would cost you more, whether they own the equipment or not. But it sounds like they rent the equipment, so that would obviously be an additional cost.
