Yeah, it really does fold up so small! I do wish the arms went completely flat/parallel with the 15mm rods, instead of at a slight angle, but besides that it's pretty compact

Wow! Unebelivable what PolarPro has engineered and crafted with all those little important things they considered. I was seeking for one of your other videos about the correct weight distribution of shoulder rigs when this video came up - exactly the ptoduct I've been waiting for.

I've been back and forth on what shoulder rig that could work for my needs, then this popped up in my email. Pre-ordered it immediately! A pretty slick unit that ticked almost all the boxes.

I south with my mouth open for 4 minutes of the video because I can't believe how compact and modular this thing is ...after I JUST bought 2 niceyrig shoulder mounts and 2 Arco bags (in which I have to partly break down the rigs).

Yeah, it definitely gets very compact and is nice that it doesn’t require any tools! I’m sure your niceyrig setup is great too though and customized to your own camera needs

😂 it is a very cool shoulder rig! On a 1-5 scale (5 being most comfy) I’d give the actual shoulder pad a 3. It’s pretty stiff and not super squishy or large. But I think they made that trade off to keep it compact and light.

Holy crap man. Figuring out a wireless follow focus solution with that handle would make this rig incredible!. Maybe attaching the actual Tilta wheel focus on an attachment and then screwing that thing on the pivot handle? Would that work?

Yeah man, I’m definitely gonna see what I can come up with to adapt my nucleus N to the grip! I may try something with the wheel, it’s just harder to grip and hold weight, but it could work.

It’s definitely not as cheap as SmallRig parts, but when you compare it to companies making full shoulder rigs like Shape, Wooden Camera and Tilta, it’s at least half the price!

@@chadwin I made one like this with small rig parts for pretty cheap but of course it’s not as convenient. That’s what you pay for. It’s worth it if it’s worth it to you.

@@jacksp8de yeah, exactly! I've made a few different SmallRig shoulder rigs over the years as well and they're pretty affordable! PolarPro absolutely wins on the engineering and convenience side though! haha

Yeah, I'm still working on some good options for that, besides adding a smallrig arm to the arri rosette like i showed in the video. stay tuned!

Great Video! Question: I have a Benro video tripod (C373F) and the head takes Arca Swiss plates. I didn't realize that the Pivot is takes Manfrotto plates. I called over to Benro and the tech I talked to made it sound like Benro in general uses Arca Swiss for greater compatibility, but it looks like in the video you transitioned from the Pivot Manfrotto plate onto the Benro. What am I missing? I was able to put the Benro Arca Swiss plate on the bottom of the Pivot Rig so I can at least take the rod mount/riser component and put it on the Benro Tripod, but it doesn't lock into the shoulder rig the way it does with the Pivot Manfrotto plate. I wonder what I'm missing here or if there is an adapter plate that would allow me remove just the camera from the shoulder rig and put it onto an Arca Swiss head. Curious to get your thoughts, thanks in advance.

Hey, that’s a great question. I’m pretty sure Benro makes tripods for both Manfrotto and Arca Swiss plates. All the ones I’ve ever used from Benro have been Manfrotto. Putting an arca plate on the bottom of the shoulder rig like you did is the best solution I can think of right now. Something else you could do, that isn’t ideal, is put an Arca Swiss reciever adapter on top of the manfrotto plate on the top of the shoulder rig. Then you just loosen your camera from the arca Swiss adapter on top whenever you need to take it off of the shoulder rig.

Yeah, you can screw a BPM onto the lens. Then screw the clamp adapter for the mattebox on top of that, no issue.

Looking carefully at the video it seems to me that the handles move as soon as you hold them. in short, that they have a slight play in the rotation device. are a bit wobbly. or am I wrong?

how is the balance/rigging if you rotate the handle (long side forward) and move over the NATO rail? been thinking of getting that SR handle..

Yeah, you could definitely do that if you wanna with the handle. It wouldn’t really throw off the balance. it would allow you to position the monitor that much further out if you wanna too.

Yeah. It has standard spacing. I’ve put other grips just to see and plenty of accessories on the rails!

I'm having some doubts about the handles themselves. They don't seem to be REALLY sturdy, aren't they? I like to have my handles solid as rock

I think you can replace those. If I remember correctly, the website points that out.

You just need to fold the LEFT built-in arm back up and install your own Smallrig arm with the Side focus grip. Of course it looks awkward having both arms down at the same time. But Still, this thing is too expensive as it is aimed towards beginner/Intermediate filmmakers.

Yeah, that's true, you could fold up one arm completely and then have the SmallRig Arm on the arri rosette with the follow focus grip...I hadn't even considered doing that! haha! It's not cheap, but it's pretty fairly priced for its quality, especially when you look at Zacuto shoulder rigs.

yes! the front grips can rotate fully 360 degree around. so if you need them to point up instead of down, you could do that.

Hmm, I don’t really find it gimmicky. 🤷🏼♂️ It’s pretty well thought out engineering honestly. The price is high when compared to SmallRig, but when you look at Shape shoulder rigs-this is a steal!

It's certainly not cheap, but it is high quality. If you travel and use shoulder rigs a lot, it may be worth the investment.

I did talk with them about the ability to add a follow focus during R&D and for the moment it sounded like they wanted to focus more on having the manual focus wheel up top on the 15mm rails only. Maybe in a V2 they'll add a mount for it on the handles. that's what I'm hoping!

Right that’s mad expensive your only phong for the name brand I can’t wait for another company to make a knock off that does the same exact thing I’m not brand loyal at all I’m all about value. This cool but not worth the price.
