I bought a slideing table saw as part of a combination machine 10 years ago, but there are not many videos on youtube on the tips and tricks. Your latest videos fill that gap. I think the goal should be to get the wood onto the carriage and avoid using the rip fence whenever possible. If i can hold the wood down on the carriage and use both hands on the sliding table, i am beside the table (out of the line of fire for kickback) and my hands are nowhere near the blade. Keep the coming please!

I wish our saw at work had the rear attachment! If Im really stuck I'll use my track saw, which is fine but when you've got a sliding panel saw right there it'd be nice to use it to its full potential!

It's a dream saw you have there. In what case would you use the fence on the right? Isn't the sliding panel designed to avoid having to push the piece on the table?
@SAWimp14 ай бұрын
sliders were specifically designed to cut sheet goods for the cabinet industry. first cut is dust cut to straightline one edge. all subsequent rips on that sheet reference off the rip fence. you dont typically rip solid wood on a slider.
@ReinholdStattelmannАй бұрын
@@SAWimp1 Panel saws are designed for safety and precision. Invented in 1906 by the German company Altendorf.They are the standard woodworking saws in Europe, so these table saws are used for all types of wood/woodworking. Due to the high quality demands of Central European customers, a cabinet table saw is not an option at all for a professional carpenter. There are specially developed panel sizing saws on the market for the furniture industry, e.g. look for SCM, gabbiani-gt.
@ReinholdStattelmannАй бұрын
If you have smaller parts, the time required to set up these accessories will be too high. Then you're more likely to use a rip fence. It's not that difficult to cut smaller pieces straight.
@SAWimp1Ай бұрын
@@ReinholdStattelmann yes i have an scmi hydro 3200 and use to have an altendorf f45. the large format sliders are purpose built for panel processing, as you said, it's a panel saw. Even the user manual shows operations and setup for various sheet stock formats. Yes, you can use them for general woodworking, but they do not excel at such operations and there are better machines for processing solid hardwoods. Wadkin and similar types of tables are commonly used for solid stock processing. European market certainly lacks mid and lower tier commercial machinery like your typical cheap cabinet saw, but saws like the wadkin are far superior imo.

Do you have a contact at SCM who can order SI400 Nova accessories? My local dealer in the US said I had to go through parts pronto… one bolt at a time. Prices are a multiple of what I see advertised when you can add to your order in Europe - wasn’t an option when I ordered my saw last year.

$20K buys a lot of precision and flexibility. But when you think of the savings in time and waste from imperfect cuts I can see why investing that kinda of money in a single tool pays off in the longer term.
