Thank god for a movie developer to listen to the fans for once. it's truly something special

For the holding a gun to sonic part, I think what's going to happen is he is going to fire multiple tranq rounds but sonic dodges them while saying "wait", "hold up", "calm down" after dodging each round before he runs out of ammo. Acknowledging the fans who complained about sonic being the fastest thing alive, yet he gets hit by a tranq round.

Your either overthinking these references or the movie is actually filled to the brim with references in every scene.

Orange gun tips are a common practice for replica guns. BB guns, paintball guns, things like that. It’s the law in some places, essentially so that somebody can’t use a convincing replica gun to rob a store or something. So the orange tip being added must have been to show it’s not a real gun. That’s the only reason they’d add it. Maybe they’re trying to move away from the idea that he’s a cop? Or maybe it’s jus because you don’t see him fire a tranquilliser dart in this trailer so it was a way to show somebody didn’t just point a loaded pistol at Sonic, lol

The fact that some of these references are so deep but sonic arms are still blue and his eyes are not connected. My mind is completely blown!

When I saw the thumbnail with Sonic and his pet dog (which I don't get) I saw the reference in the movie and I'm surprised to see it and also amazed! (After all, I am finally started reading the Sonic comics after seeing them is Sonic Mega Collection over a decade ago. I'm lovin' the comics!)

Though part of me still bets that the Sonic Movie could potentially amount to becoming a Cult Classic Game Movie in the 2020’s later on since Sonic’s infamous old movie design and his nostalgic redesign will make that movie and it’s history unforgettable later on.
