Disney and Marvel are hiring all these directors that have made a few films or shows and then they are thrown into the fire and are directed by the committee to make these movies and shows exactly how they are supposed to be made. If this Rey movie does get made and is actually released in theaters it will be a big middle finger to the fanbase. KK hates the Star Wars fanbase because it's mostly men and she hates the fact that she can't change that. We were supposed to have a Jaina Solo trilogy written by a competent woman writer. But Kathleen Kennedy couldn’t allow that to happen now could she.

Um yeah, it's 100% accurate to say that she's been cast as the director lol. I'm so glad that the director of the next Star Wars movie is such a big Star Wars fan, knows all the lore, appreciates the history of the franchise such as the original trilogy and the EU from the 90s with all the novels/comics/games, loves reading science fiction books especially all the classics, and has some really solid experience with all the previous science fiction movies she's made, demonstrating her creative talent as a director in bringing all the pieces together with understanding and shaping the visual effects, the cinematography, the storytelling, the characters...Oh wait, none of those things apply to her at all? This is just completely unbelievable to me. How stupid is everyone at Lucasfilm?! Wait, don't answer that. (And I agree re: Daisy Ridley, Rey could have been so much more and so much better if Daisy Ridley had been given something better to work with.)

I recently watched 1933's King Kong, and on the Blu-ray I have, there is an audio essay by a German King Kong Superfan, Dr. Rolf Giesen. Dr Giesen taught me a lot about the production of that film and a lot about the men who made it. But he also made an observation that I think applies to Star Wars as well. He mentions the remakes of King Kong, and while he was very complimentary about them he said that the reason they will never replace the original is that they both lost the Fairy Tale aspects of the original. And that I feel goes double for Star Wars, why we resonated to hard with the original trilogy and why everything that has come after it doesn't hit right for us. They Lost the Fairy Tale aspect of the whole thing. The Fairy Tale aspect is what makes the whole thing work in the first place, without it something just feels wrong, something keeps us from being enthralled like we were with the OG trilogy.

I got Timothy Zahn’s “Heir to the Empire” as a Christmas gift and ever since I started reading it I cannot put it down. It’s like watching a Star Wars movie but in book form. I have never read Legends before, but I had heard of the Thrawn trilogy and how great it was. Now, after reading just a few chapters, I understand why.

I didn't need another reason to not want to watch another movie defiling the Star Wars IP. This director can keep trying to make me uncomfortable if she wants because all I feel is disdain.
