The Serrote do Letreiro site in northeastern Brazil has been studied extensively over the years by palaeontologists due to the theropod, sauropod and iguanodontian dinosaur tracks that can be found there. However, up until recently, little research had been done on Serrote do Letreiro's many petroglyphs, which are often found close to the dinosaur footprints. A new study published in the journal Scientific Reports analyses these petroglyphs and their relationship to the footprints. It seems that the ancients respected the dinosaur fossils and chose to intentionally include them in their graphic panels.
