No body just says Hey I’m gonna go to a state wit hurricanes and tornados that’s what happens I’ve live in Cali 25 years only one earthquake and it just shook a light for 5 minutes when you grow up around something u just use to it . You are probably in a city or state with hurricanes lol like that any much better you see IAN and those types are way more common than a bad earthquake that’s what people fail to realize

People thought the same with hurricanes in Florida. Then when people were warned about Ian, a lot didn't heed it since it's been said before. Now countless people are being punished for their complacency. I imagine it being no different in Cali.

I'm closer to 35 and was just old enough to remember the Northridge quake and that one felt like the big one when it was happening, then my parents and older family members remember the Sylmar quake in the 70s, it seems like if you just live long enough here eventually you'll get your turn on the ride, cheers!

I was only 3 at the time the huge 6.3 Earthquake happened in my family’s house. And I remember it because it was a traumatic experience.. I remember my dads old car alarms going off. Things shattering, power going out and so much screaming and visually can picture how much things swayed. But it could all be just a dream I had when I was an older kid. Because of that memory, I have anxiety thinking about when this giant fault is finally going to cause the big earthquake, it will no doubt happen but it’s the timing we are all curious about.

The San Andreas isn't even the worst fault because of the type of fault it is, but the Cascadia subduction zone in the Pacific Northwest is a real monster, then I started watching earthquake footage of Japan's 9.1 and that shit is wild. It's not that it doesn't give me anxiety, but there's so many things to worry about that one more doesn't make a difference. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Los Angeles and Long Beach aren’t the only big major cities built on a ticking time bomb. Mexico City is even worse and Santiago Chile is also very frightening. The entire Pacific coastline of the Americas from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego is ridden with fault lines and they are all interconnected.

Smaller faults can sometimes be more harmful to certain areas, especially if they're highly populated areas. I took a geo class and the professor, a geologist talked about some of these areas. Thing is the smaller faults may not go off in our lifetime. We don't know.

We were watching the baseball game on tv when it happened. My husband is from Sunnyvale and we were away at college in Utah. We got married in the Bay Area. I am from the San Joaquin Valley, 90 minutes by car (in good traffic) from the Bay Area. Both of us had driven the Bay Bridge and those double decker freeways before. That was just absolutely horrifying to see how those collapsed and the homes collapse. We were glued to the tv watching the footage. It was rough.

And the kinds of earthquakes California is capable of producing is not as major as people may think. The most would be a mag 8 and that would be unusual. We have acceptable building codes, there's no need to fear.

the city of los angeles is in no way prepared for a catastrophic earthquake. our freeways, roads, bridges won’t be able to withstand it. not to mention all the janky skyscrapers and older buildings throughout the city!!

And why I say this is based upon ALL the visual evidence as well as documented evidence of the destructions made in the past here in California from earthquakes that had a magnitude of at least a 5 or greater on the Richter Scale. Also, I'm a Native Californian and a Senior Citizen who has been in a few of the larger quakes both in Northern California and in Southern California mostly since late 1976, thus I know what damage plus any fatalities can happen from one of these larger quakes firsthand. In addition, I've got family members and friends who live in quake prone areas in various locations throughout California. One needs to learn what they should have immediately available to grab then run with in case of ANY TYPE OF A DISASTER, either natural or not like a gas pipe leak or an electrical wiring fire, happens suddenly NO MATTER WHERE THEY LIVE IN THIS WORLD. A bugout bag, aka an emergency stuff bag, is a MUST ITEM to have so one is PREPARED then one DOES NOT need to be SO SCARED. And, finally, increasing one's knowledge about the different natural disasters that have or could affect the area in which one lives is a very good way to become more prepared and less afraid of them. There are a few fault lines recently discovered that people are looking Into. And a few years ago people were protesting because of the construction under Beverly hills high school of.the metro train and the fault lines that run through it they didn't want the construction to happen. The fault lines in Hermosa beach/South Bay h e been really active these past few years.

Yeah, and it could happen today or tomorrow or years from now. So no worries. Just make sure you have some storage of water and food in case you live near the fault lines because shelves will be clear of it all once it happens. And it will.
