I’m so happy he was able to display his vocal abilities. It’s pretty obvious at this point that this comeback promotion is very focused on showcasing Taemin the vocalist, rather than Taemin the performance/dance god that he is. I think it’s such a smart move, cause as a singer he has so much to offer and people are often sleeping on his vocals. Besides with his vast and flawless discography full of amazing songs, he should present his songs to a wider audience much more often.

Taemin is my ultimate bias and I say that as a multistan ❤ When you know that in the first album of SHINee back in 2008 he hasn't been given any lines because he didn't know how to sing... I'm so proud of him and I truly love the universe of his songs ! Great reaction 😍

Taemin has been in the industry for more than 15 years as a member of SHINee and he has been a solo artist since 2014. Therefore, including his full-length albums, mini albums, and singles, etc., as well as his Japanese albums, Taemin has more than a dozen solo albums. Not to mention the 2 albums he has as a member of SuperM. And on top of all that, SHINee currently has 14 full-length Korean and Japanese albums, just as many repackaged albums, numerous mini albums, etc. You have a TON to catch up on. :D Most of those songs you didn't recognize are iconic B-side songs that are fan favorites he performs in his solo concerts, which are often Japanese concerts. I don't think you have watched very many of Taemin's solo concert performances, so that is probably why you don't know the songs. I really hope you will consider looking up all of those songs and maybe doing a reaction to his concert performances of them. You really need to check out more of Taemin's live performances. :D You really have to check out Taemin's "Black Rose" @Taemin The Stage performance video. As you saw, it's a B-side song on his Act 1 Never Gonna Dance Again album, which is the album "Criminal" is also on. But you can't just listen to the song, the performance takes the song to another level. "2 Kids" has an MV that you should check out. It's the song that he released right before "Criminal" and it's part of the trilogy that is his Never Gonna Dance Again albums. SHINee are literally known as CD-INee or CD-eaters for a reason. They are one of the first groups to ever be recognized for the fact that they sound even better live than they do on their studio recordings. There's a reason why they always sing live. Besides not being very good at lip syncing, all the members have such phenomenal voices and are so skilled when it comes to performing live that they set the standard for what live performances should be like. Even as rookies, senior artists would come to watch their rehearsals on music shows because SHINee's vocal talent was that impressive. No one was singing live and performing the way SHINee does it at the time. And just think, in SHINee's early days Taemin didn't have a whole lot of lines in their songs. People even used to make fun of Taemin's singing and they would say that he was tone deaf and couldn't sing. However, it's sort of a misconception that Taemin "couldn't sing." it wasn't that he couldn't sing, it was just that he debuted when he was so young -- he was only 14 years old -- that his voice hadn't really developed yet and he didn't really have a good grasp of how to use his voice and produce the sounds he wanted with it. So, in the beginning, when he sang, he was often flat or his voice cracked or he was off key or out of tune, etc. And because he was being compared to the other members of SHINee who are all 2 to 4 years older than him, and the other members had such phenomenal voices to start out with, it really made Taemin sound like he was lacking. That's why in SHINee's first few songs you will see that he only has a few lines, and most of the time he was just given big solo dance breaks to fill the stage at his parts in the song. However, if he was really tone deaf, he never would have become an SM Idol trainee -- SM would have put him on the dance track and probably steered him toward becoming a backup dancer -- and he definitely would have never become the amazing singer that he is today. As you know, someone who is truly tone deaf is physically unable to hear the difference in the notes and is unable to carry a tune. But Taemin really wanted to prove to everyone that he wasn't just a dancer, so he spent a lot of extra time concentrating on vocal lessons and the other SHINee members -- especially Onew and Jonghyun -- spent some serious time coaching and mentoring him until he learned what it took to match their vocal range and to use his voice. (For the first year or more after debut Taemin spent hours in vocal lessons and he would push himself every day until his nose would bleed because he was so tired and worn out, etc. He practically lived in the training rooms at SM.) It's also a well-known fact among longtime fans, that for most of SHINee's career Taemin struggled with being an introvert and he often never spoke in interviews and on variety shows unless spoken to. He would let the other members carry the conversation. The members often talk about how they would have to prompt him to get him to speak. He is also known for telling a story or answering a question in an interview and half way through the story, he would stop speaking and just go quiet again. The other members often had to fill in the blanks for him and nudge him to get him to focus and keep on talking. It wasn't until around 2014 when Taemin had his solo debut and he had to start doing promotions and interviews by himself that he really forced himself to change and to come out of his shell. This was also part of the reason why Taemin struggled with self-image issues, where he worried about the fact that people always saw him as weak and helpless and often only knew him for his looks. This is the reason why Jonghyun wrote "Pretty Boy" for Taemin because Jonghyun wished the public would be able to see and understand the Taemin, he knew as a strong and masculine guy, and to stop looking at him as just a fragile "pretty boy." (BTW, "Petty Boy" is a B-side track on Taemin's solo debut album Ace and it features Kai from EXO, who is Taemin's best friend since their trainee days, as the rapper in the song. Taemin and Kai even performed the song together as part of Taemin's solo debut promotions.) Just like Kai, this is part of the duality that is Taemin's personality. When on stage he can turn their fierce, sexy, sensual side up to 3,000 and he becomes the most powerful and magnificent performer that commands the stage. But the minute he steps off the stage he becomes quiet and shy. He often blushes when people compliment him for his looks or performance. In everyday life Taemin is a completely different person. For example, the Taemin you see when he is just hanging out with his members, isn't necessarily what he shows to the general public. When Taemin is with the other members of SHINee he often still reverts back to being the baby of the group and just lets the rest of the members take on the responsibility of carrying the conversations in interviews, etc. It's not uncommon to see Taemin off in his own little world during interviews, he even still does it as a member of SuperM. Taemin will always have that maknae mindset no matter who he is with. Which is one of the reasons he turned down the role as the leader of SuperM, because he is much more comfortable as the maknae and didn't feel prepared for the leader role, etc. But that's what makes him even more loveable, because no matter how famous he gets or how many admirers he has, he never loses himself or tries to be something different than his authentic self.

Taemin is a beautiful piano player. He taught himself when he was quite young and can play by ear. He has a baby grand in his home and will sometimes play for us when doing a VLIVE.
