Hey Jenny! I live in Sweden where winter is pretty intense and the darkness is real... A couple of things that really help support me are lighting candles each morning when I wake in the darkness, making the dark mornings and nights feel somehow sacred and magic. I also have started this year going for walks even in the dark, and somehow being out in the dark makes it feel less scary and there's something quite beautiful about the way your eyes adjust and you actually see more or differently than in daylight. Mostly it's about trying to see wonder in darkness and not always running away from it but stepping out into it with courage and cultivating my inner light. Much love x

My dog's enthusiasm every single morning is so inspiring! Yes it's 5.30 and freezing cold but we are so happy for a new day to do our favourite things (sniffing, snuggling and squirrel chasing) ❤

I have horrible seasonal depression that hits so so hard every year. I second everyone else here’s ideas about romanticizing cozy nights as much as possible. I know you enjoy cooking- I try to spend a lot of my winter trying out new and more complicated recipes, since I have the time and I won’t mind the oven and stove being on (unlike the hot NorCal summers). But my biggest advice is to get a bedside alarm clock and set it to a radio station you like. You’ll wake up to music and you won’t have to reach for your phone right when you wake up. Plus you’ll feel like you’re in an 80s movie.

hey jenny :) i really recommend a book called no bad parts by richard shwartz. if you are interested in psychology and spirituality, its really really good. its about internal family systems, which is really transformative kind of work, and goes hand in hand with inner child work!!

try drinking decaf coffee! still get the flavor and coziness without the jitters, sweating, and anxiety

Ooof never thought I would be the person in the comments gushing ab there dogs, but 10/10 recommend. Take your time finding a personality fit tho. I find I am taking better care of myself by proxy of taking better care of my dog. For example, I feel bad if she has not been on a walk, or seen day light and act on that rather than acting on that thought for myself.
