I much prefer the chrome to the satin black but my prejudice may have been influenced by black on cars in the past such as the BMW 3 Series denoting the entry levels models whereas the chrome embellishments identified the higher priced 6 cyl models. Of course Ford were the past masters of adding more chrome as you advanced from the L, to GL, GLX, Ghia, Ghia X. I am probably also portraying my age by saying that I think Tesla have taken its minimalist, button free design to the extreme. At the very least the Model 3 should have a head up display for speed and immediate Sat Nav directions. The tablet display is too tempting to be distracted by whereas at least one supplementary screen would not take your eyes as far off your driver’s sight line.

1:55 about that panel gap, I watched a different Model 3 video where the person in the video said that pretty much every 2021 Model 3 had a panel gap in that same exact area. They theorized that The mechanism for the electronic lift gate is what's creating the panel gap.

For all that has been invested in this car, for what they charge for it... to still have fit and finish and panel gap issues, is inexcusable. I suspect the main reason for switching the trim from chrome to black is to disguise that issue, rather than address it and fix it. It’s 2021 and Tesla can’t rest on being a start up. This all being said, it is a beautiful car, and its power and range should stifle any closed minded gas adherent. Every time I think of this as a candidate for my next car, those panel gap issues remind me that maybe it shouldn’t be.

I’ve had the standard range model 3 since September 2019 and I agree with the reviewers’ suspicions about range; you get nowhere near what’s claimed especially in colder temperatures and long motorway journeys. To claim that this car isn’t as comfortable as an Audi A4 or bmw 3 series is also false to the point of hilarity! Having access to all 3 cars on a regular basis I can guarantee that the model 3 is the most comfortable and relaxing.

I think Tesla also dropped the performance on the 0-60 times across all the versions. Instead of spending all that extra money on the Performance version, we opted to buy the LR and chip in for the performance "boost" at $2,000. That split the 0-60 difference almost exactly in half for a lot less money. We didn't like the lower chassis in our snowy climate nor the expensive, noisy, and hard riding tires on the performance version anyway.

I like the flush door handles, but to pick them out in black against the white makes them stand out which seems contradictory to me. I therefore ordered the blue at extra cost. I am pleased with all the other improvements though, it should arrive in about 3 more weeks, so fingers crossed I get one with decent panel gaps.

Nonsense. 3) That HUDs are not viable for EVs with any level of FSD. This is false and it has been shown that HUDs are useful in all modes, especially as they convey useful information for anyone looking out the windscreen as they should be. 3D AR HUDs are being developed and integrated for a reason. People will still be driving and going between modes for many many years. This is especially important for cars without drivers gauges, situational awareness, and AR visual elements. This is also something that should be available at the high costs of top Teslas even as options. Guys, I need help! I’m currently looking to put an order in for an EV in the next few days for a company car and I really can’t make my mind up. I’m down to the Tesla Model 3, BMW i4 edrive350 M Sport and the BMW ix3 M Sport SUV. There are pros and cons for all but I’m stuck! Any advice?

The reason it can’t do a 360 camera is because all of its cameras are focused towards self driving, so they look out words instead of downwards at the ground

Be careful. Cabin radiation is a concern. Newer Toyota and Lexus hybrids and Nissan electric seem to have a better shield over the electric components keeping cabin radiation low. Audi and Tesla are one of the highest. EV buyers are often health conscious. It is easy to shield with metallic sheets but they won't factory install until it becomes a widespread concern as usual.

Beautiful 2021 Model 3. Love the new window dual layer glass, which helps for better thermo & noise isolation, the powered trunk, beautiful new center console, powerful USBC, more secured port for Sentry memory in globe box, and with even lower price than 2019 Model! Trunk gap might be adjustable and fixed by Tesla Service as well!

I don't think the double glass will achieve any major noise insulation benefits as it is only on the front windows, not them all. They should have done all the glass, or better still none at all as it just adds weight and spent the money on sound insulation elsewhere, such as internal panels, the floor etc. I prefer the old console as it complements the minimalist interior design better and lends itself to customisation to individual choice by a wrap. I don't like the exposed phone holder on the new one as anything popping-up on the phone's screen could be annoying/distracting, particularly at night, and if you leave the car for just a few minutes means removing your phone as it would be on show. The glove box usb is a good idea, but an easily achieved diy job if necessary. The auto trunk/boot has no foot operation so is of little benefit, again it just adds unnessary weight. They should have utilised the money by improving their quality control measures to lift their manufacturing prowess, reputation and perceived quality to achieve an outstanding car rather than a decent one..... it isn't rocket science!

I would love to buy this car but I really want a 360 degree camera to help with parking so if this card doesn't have that then it could be a deal breaker for me. I assumed with all the cameras it has that it would definitely have a 360 camera but looks like my assumption was wrong! Such a shame that a car at this price range with all of these features can't offer a simple 360deg camera!

Centre console update is a coin flip really. The space inside the 2019 car is very useful and I wouldn't say the flip panels were flimsy at all. I did indeed wrap my centre console and don't judge others who leave the piano black. Same with the chrome delete really. It's personal preference. To be honest these are very minor things when you think about the fact that Tesla have only existed on the roads for about 10 years and they have come so far. I had to decide between the Jaguar I-Pace and the Model 3 and the deciding factor was the Superchargers hands down!

@David-bl1bt
@David-bl1bt 3 жыл бұрын
Only on the front windows apparently. I don't get the point tbh, they put in better batteries for better range and then add weight by doubling the glass! Same with the powered boot/trunk, not really of any benefit as they neglected to fit a foot sensor, meaning you still need to use a hand to open it. Other than to try to add a premium feature it does little else than to add more weight and complexity.

@@David-bl1bt I sold the car because it was too noisy! Putting them just in the front is standard practice. I don't think it's a lot of weight. Glad to hear they addressed that issue.

@@David-bl1bt they haven’t “doubled the glass”. It’s acoustic laminated glass, it’s only maybe 1-2mm thicker than standard tempered glass, and it’s not much heavier as the middle layer is plastic.

Glad that the Model 3 is getting the Model Y’s heat pump. My Prius Prime (AKA “Prius PHV”) heat pump is the only way, with its minuscule 8.8KWh battery, it can get any meaningful EV range in the cold! And it really works! It takes a little more power than the air conditioner (to generate the same temperature difference), but not much more. Plus, it warms up much faster than a petrol car’s heater!
