Energion Publications president Henry Neufeld interviews Dr. Abidan Shah and Dr. David Alan Black about textual criticism with a particular focus on a soon-to-be-released book by Dr. Harry Sturz, The Byzantine Text-Type & New Testament Textual Criticism, which will be released as a reprint of the original 1984 title. Topics include textual criticism and the reliability of the New Testament, the value of various text-types, along with some notes on teaching Greek. Links are provided on screen for various resources. The upcoming apologetics conference on the New Testament text is discussed as well. Glad I found your video interview. I am reading Dr. Black's "Using New Testament Greek in Ministry." I'm glad I remember Dr. Sturz. He was my teacher of Greek in 1977-1978 at Biola College. I took two semesters, but eventually work, marriage, and life prevented me from continuing on in Greek. Dr. Sturz used the "Essentials of New Testament Greek," by Ray Summers, grammar, back then, though in previous semesters he preferred the "Chase and Phillips" grammar and Classical Greek to get to Koine. Now that I'm retired I have time to get back into Greek.

Harry Sturz’ book chap 13 nails it for me. It was the uncertainty of my wife who read, “many older ms do not contain this,” that started me on this quest to study Greek and get to the root; I didn’t realize that root was thousands of miles. Thank you!

Dr. David Alan Black’s passion speaks deeply to me. I love studying the Scriptures and his love and deep appreciation for the Word of God inspires me to even love the Word more.

Note: The dissertation is from 1967, not 1976. Question: Is "The Byzantine Text-Type & New Testament Textual Criticism" in the public domain?

My reading of the debate between the House of Hilel and the House of Shammai was about where you put the napkin after washing your hands which of course would be held in your fist. Blessings.
