I've used the discontinued Level Pre-K with 3 Kiddos and each one of them loved it! We have fallen MORE in love with each new edition that TGTB creates and the Preschool Course is no exception! My kiddo and I are so excited to jump into this curriculum!! Have you used the old version or are you starting out with this one?

Thank you for sharing your walkthrough! I just started the old version 3 weeks ago with my 4 year old, but today I ordered the new version to do for the remainder of the year since the former is only going to last us into December. I had originally planned on doing the Pre-K Primer in the Spring, but now I’ve bumped that to do as a sort of summer school program before we start K next fall.

Thank you for this flip through! I am using this curriculum with my first of two boys, my 3 year old. I waited patiently all summer instead of just jumping the gun on the discontinued version and I’m so glad we did! I bought mine as a download pdf but will be buying the games again through the website because unfortunately their games in the pdf turned out way too small to use. I was hoping someone would show the games so I can confirm my decision and this did! Thank you again!

Wow! This looks so good. I’m glad they upgraded it & extended the lessons. I used the original with my daughter. There wasn’t enough lessons there to really teach anything. So, I supplemented with Easy Peasy. That worked awesome for us. I was going to go Easy Peasy again with my second child, but now idk lol.🤷🏽‍♀️🤔🤣

My Kiddo who I bought this for has been really enjoying it and is definitely learning the concepts being taught, as well as how curriculum works. She will even bring things into life that we've done in the book. Though, I will say that with this, or even the older one that I used with 3 other Kiddos - I don't expect the book to teach it alone. We practice a lot of the concepts in play and daily life. For example, while she's coloring we point to the pictures of sounds she's been exposed to. We point out letters all the time and she has access to all of the videos whenever she's interested. We also REALLY enjoy the Leap Frog Letter Factory movie!! I have considered it a companion to our letter learning course with every single child. Hopefully that helps!! I highly recommend this one though I've never looked at Easy Peasy to compare 😅

Yes! My kiddo and I have enjoyed this course very much! I follow her lead and we do lessons when she's interested (sometimes multiple days in a row, other times once a week or after a couple week break, but usually at least once a week) and for however long she's enjoying it (Sometimes it's part of a lesson, other times she plows through multiple lessons!). I also follow her lead on the activities. There's so much learning packed into it that if there's an activity she's not feeling that day but is willing to do the next we skip it - because a similar activity will come around later, and she might do it then. If not it's ok! There's a wide variety of activities to choose from to still learn the concepts!) This is an incredible flip thru! I have the old version that I am waiting to start with my youngest. We'll probably work through it and then maybe work through this one too, since she is still rather young and loves workbooks. What age are you starting this with?:)

Working through both for a young one is a great idea!! I don't go by age just interest level. Since she sees the bigs do school she wants in on the fun. We will do it on the days she's interested, and when she's not she'll just play :)

We used the current level K Primer and are currently using level K. There is a big jump in what they need to do. They do not have plans to redo level K, but I felt like they should have redone it while they were fixing the Primer. The biggest problem is the readers. The readers are not very decodable compared to a program like All About Reading. There are often several words a child cannot decode in the book. For example the TH and ING sounds are taught at the end of the course, but the word THING appeared in a reader midway through the book. Almost every decodable book has this problem. The other problem is the assessments. The assessments do not match what is taught and care frustrating. I know they are meant to show growth over time as they take the same assessment 3 times, but frustrating kids is not helpful. The next time an assessment was given she could have done much better on assessment 1, but was asked to do assessment 2. It had long vowel words even though long vowels had not been taught. The lessons themselves are easy and straightforward, the readers and assessments cause frustration.

Oh my that does sound frustrating, I'm sorry that your experience has not positive for your daughter! Maybe you can adjust somethings as you go to meet her needs. I had one kiddo that needed to reread the Beginner Books boxes a few times before being able to move on to the next unit. She is a STRONG reader now, but we did have to move slowly through Level K. Another kiddo just pick it up as we went and didn't need any review before moving on, flying through the course. Hoping you find a way to make it positive for both of you! 💓

@@OnTheSamePageTogether She started last year in TK and is continuing this year. Going at her pave. We stopped and spent time on the phonics cards and sight words lists for a while after the first assessment. As a former public school teacher I just don't understand why the readers and assessments don't match the lessons. As far as the assessments, no amount of review of previous topics would make a child be able to read long vowel words when they have not been taught yet.

I remember going over long and short vowels a lot in Level K Primer. Assessments at the end of the Unit in Level K seemed to match the content covered, but the reading assessments in the appendix were a whole different story for sure, I never worried about them being able to actually do much with the appendix assessments because they felt like those benchmark (?) tests in public school that measure overall progress, so we focused on "look at how much you improved since last time!" Or "this is just to see where you are starting, I don't expect you to get it all the first time" when we did them the first time.

@@OnTheSamePageTogether Yes. She knows her long and short vowels very well from the Primer book. I mean the program taught her to read "hat" not "hate" and then assessed her on "hate." I get the growth aspect. My son used level 1 last year and grew like crazy. But even a list of CVC words would show growth over time at this age as the student becomes more confident and quick at reading. It seems like fake growth to say well she couldn't read this long passage and poem in September but now she can in April when it was already obvious she couldn't read it in September because it's written at a late first grade level and she's five. Overall I love Good and Beautiful. I just feel the Level K is in need of a refresher with Primer.

Yes and No. No because your kiddo won't come out of it reading books or even sentences. Yes because they focus on the first foundational step that needs to be mastered before really getting into the words and that is Letter Recognition and their Most Common Sounds. By the end of the course they will use those sounds to read 3 letter words like "cat" The next level Kindergarten Prep will introduce 2 letter words as well as 3 letter CVC words (consonant, vowel, consonant). Level K is when your kiddo will start the (new) reading program which has 3 levels that line up with the Language Arts levels but your kiddo can go at their pace and finish the reading program before finishing the LA levels. I have videos for the Kindergarten Prep as well as all 3 levels of Language Arts that include the reading program. All are linked in the description box of this video (the Kindergarten Prep video is linked directly and there is a playlist with all of the LA videos) 💖
