In many parts of the world, Muslim women have been challenged with wearing the hijab in workplaces. This sketch is based on a true story, that addresses the issue in a positive light. We hope people in power around the world can learn from this and hope co-workers can learn to be supportive.

I work in law enforcement in Texas. I'm the only hijabi out of more than 3,000 officers. I wear it with pride, and I actually use it to connect with felons in and out of prisons and jails, and on the streets. My badge and my hijab are not separate personalities, they are part of the same personality, the same woman, the same officer.

I have a big doubt Can you please clear it Like as we know the main purpose of hijab is modesty and covering up so that non mahrams don't feel attracted, to avoid all that haram that could occur if not wearing it and other modest clothings_ I have also started to wear hijab, here even most of the muslims don't wear it, and when I wear it i get to see that people look at me,(girls n boys, I'm talking abt mostly muslims) i am not saying that they look in a wrong way but just in amusement or anything (especially in parties when I wear a bit fancy or stylish hijab (but still sober) _ the problem is they would not be looking at me with so much attention if i did not wear hijab. So i feel like my hijab is seeking more attention and people looking at me with more attention. I feel like this is destroying the purpose of hijab. Hijab is wore to avoid attention of non mahrams but here it is not happening. I am an indian

@@miss2862 You must continue to wear the hijab. We are currently living in the end of times and more horrible things will come. Many things that was once considered "abnormal" are now becoming "normalized." You must wear hijab along with a garmet that will not attract people's attention. Islam has dress code for men and women. Yes, wearing abaya or jibab is better but if you cannot do so at least meet the dress code requirements that Allah ordained on the women.

@@jazzon2538 thanks for replying me Yeah, i wear loose fitting clothes (enough that my body shape is not outlined but not that loose) I recently started wearing hijab but last year I went to write an exam and teacher asked me to remove it, though it was allowed to wear according to the examination guidelines, so i removed it, cuz u know i am a bit coward and quiet emotional 😭😖_ i could not argue much to the security checker. I just said it's allowed , it's written, and she said it's not allowed here and you cannot apper with this hijab so i removed it, i felt so bad that i could not stand for me. But last year I just started to wear it a few times, but not that often. But again I am going to appear for that exam and i am nervous bcz this time I am putting efforts in wearing it, whenever I go out or in front of cousins_ btw I fail sometimes when it comes to cousins but i am trying _ What if I'm again asked to remove it in exam (I am from India , an condition this time in India is more worse, they hate it) If they force me What shall I do😖 My mom says it's better to remove it in such a case so it shows i have no one to strengthen me on this hijab journey. I have no such friend who could help me out with my problems If you can please do help me I cannot argue with them, i cry quite easily, and in entry process no parents are allowed near, no phone, what will I do if this happens again I already get a lot of anxiety before exam(NEET) bcz this is what I'm preparing for whole year and this matter is adding more anxiety to me
@jazzon2538
@jazzon2538 2 жыл бұрын
@@miss2862 yes, I know the condition in India is not an excellent place for Muslims. Islam does not say it is haram for females to get their education. However, when you are living in a non-Muslim country, going to a school/college/university where you will be exposed to secular teachings, it is best to not continue your studies in such as place where you are not permitted to wear the hijab. If you were in a school/college/university that teaches secular education, but you have the freedom to wear the hijab and you have strong eeman to stay away from fitnah then it is permissible for you to finish your education. If you have to take an exam and you have no freedom to wear the hijab, cannot stop your studies, cannot make hijrah to another country, then you must wear the hijab wherever you will not be haram. So if it is safe for you to walk certain places with the hijab on, you must do so. If you have to take your exam or go to other places that are necessary for you to be there and you cannot wear your hijab, you must remove it to avoid the greater harm upon you. Allah is All-merciful and All-forgiving. He will not hold you accountable if you are in such a situation that you cannot wear the hijab all the time due to the condition you are facing. Allah said to fear Him as much as possible. Whenever the necessity has been lifted off from you, you must continue to wear the hijab everywhere you go and when you meet your cousins as well.

I'm the only Muslim hijabi in our entire office (of about 200+ people) and people always say things like how its uncomfortable (for them) and talk how privileged they are to show off their beautiful hair and body (though as in a friendly chat). I would really appreciate if they could understand that I'm not being oppressed here, and it my decision to wear what I want. They think they are advising me by sympathising but its really annoying and uncomfortable and sometimes really makes me angry. I'm sure no-one out there wants others to criticise their choice of fashion especially in this day and age right?

For anyone commenting that this is not “real hijab”, yes, I agree with you. It takes time for the wardrobe to catch up with your intentions. This was her first day at work wearing the headscarf, so you cannot expect a lot more than that. It is very hard to go to work that first day wearing it. The loose clothes will follow. The worst thing you could tell her at this point that she should not bother covering her hair unless she does it properly. All the people judging, look at yourselves, your clothing and behavior first.

It captures the attention of the audience and keeps them engaged till the end. 😊 To those in the comments: I know that we're all grappling with issues. But can we just appreciate how wonderful the video is and how it resonates with all of us? For once, please let your worries and preachings take a back seat, and just enjoy the video. Compliment the acting, the screenplay and comment how such videos inspire change and bring out the best in people. Share the video with your friends and family with just a simple message: "Watch!" Add nothing but appreciation for the video and its creators and commend them for their work. Add nothing else - no sermons, no quotations, and certainly no worldly complaints! We must hold each other up not by wallowing in our misery but by collaboration, innovation, and celebration. If you find me to be rude, I apologize. It was not my intention to hurt your feelings. I just want this video to reach the masses and to bring about change in all of us! It ought to get the credit it deserves, instead of serving as a means to push us further into pigeonholing ourselves than we already are.

@@davidzack8735 jilbab was mentioned in the Quran, not only mentioned as Hadith. It’s hijab that covers her body, not just hair. So hijab is not just the headscarf but also the entire body. Plus men also have their own hijab. They should cover certain parts of their body as well.

Oh sisters ot there! Be proud of wearing the hijaab just like our mothers of the believers and other female companions wore it with pride. You do not want your kaffan to be the first form of covering. You wouldn't want your last day to be the first day you wear hijaab!

It's literally sunnah to smile. Eye contact is best avoided but is an important part of business communication. Avoiding eye contact in the west looks like you're guilty or lying. People will think it's a scam and leave. Talking is fine. Talking is encouraged if trying to learn, teach or survive (like keeping you job/income). There is no 'real hijab' 'fake hijab'. There is only the intention to please Allah swt and be honest with oneself. The perfection of a hijab is the aim of a believer and for the judgment of Allah swt alone. Always remember the tongue is the sharpest sword.

The consensus in the last part only happens on screen, Its a good movie with a good message but way tooo far from reality.....I remembered how Marwa Al sherbini, in germany got Stabbed multiple times by an extremists in the court for wearing hijab and she also complained that she couldn't get any jobs after her graduation in germany.... This was sooo superficial, white ceos or bosses are way too arrogant to be aproachable as portrayed otheriwise here...The last scene looked like from an indian movie where everyone agrees to same thing LOL

Not only was she stabbed, the police thought her husband was the bad guy, so they shot him in the leg as well, even though he was stabbed multiple times too. And all of this in front of her 3 year old son. And big universities in Germany closed their prayer rooms for Muslims and said that Muslims can't pray in University at all! The West hates Muslims and it will never change unless we pray and ask Allah to make life easier for us. We have to pray to Allah and ask that he guides the people of the West and if he doesn't, that he takes us away from the West and places us in a country that respects our religion. I would rather be allowed to pray and be poor than not be allowed to pray and have medium income. Thankfully this world is only temporary, so we must race to do good deeds. At least Marwa Al Sherbini will go to heaven by Allah's Mercy.

This stabbing happened in my hometown Dresden. It's incredibly tragic. Being a practising Muslim in Germany is definitely hard. Even if you have a Muslim name you get much fewer replies to your job applications. On the other hand though, I work for a German government institution in the UK and started wearing Hijab at work a few years ago. Nobody bat an eyelid and only my line manager talked to me to ask me if everything was okay with me. Alhamdulillah. Not all employers and work places are discriminatory. The most important thing is to never give up on our religious values and be proud of being Muslim. The rest will follow.

Living in the USA, I can definitely relate to this video about how they were embarrassed to have her be seen by their clients. I worked in a sales support position and because of my transition to hijabi I found my responsibilities and job being completely changed to administrative with less contact around the clients. I also saw a change in the way I was treated in meetings, with others talking over me like my voice no longer counted. Horrible racism!
