This is so much better than the contemporary redo: it’s soothing, as a bedroom should be.

After staying at Caribbean last year, I think this room is a vast improvement. I love the color scheme of coastal. The bathroom looks much classier than the standard room I was in. I would definitely choose this over the pirate room. Is it perfect no. I agree the air conditioner needs to go.

Great room tour! I think the issue a lot of people had with pirate rooms: dark, double beds (instead of queen), thin mattresses & remote location. Now, the location is still remote but close to Skyliner, which is huge. Personally I love the bright, airy look of these rooms.

The space is amazing!! Shower and tub could use a safety bar. Not necessarily for handicapped people, but just for everyone to hang on to, in a slippery tub!!!

I was there this weekend. I loved it. It is neat how the TV is now offset and is directly in front of the big bed. However, our daughter didn't like sleeping in the Murphy bed. I like the way the counter is short and the sinks stick out at you. It makes the bathroom seemed big.

So much more functional than the pirate rooms. It’s amazing the amount of space they opened up without those huge uncomfortable beds. They made the room look twice as big and it can fit more people.

I love it. I think it makes sense to still have a ocean themed room at Caribbean Beach, love little mermaid but i don't love the over the top bright colors and style at art of animation, so I prefer this toned down little mermaid but still with a lot of interesting touches and paintings.

I miss the pirate rooms but these rooms are really nice! Hopefully setting a standard for future room renovations. Modernized but not plain white with no theming. Light on the IP and still holding true to the caribbean theme.

Being of Italian descent myself, I found it funny that Tom’s reflection in the mirror(beginning) showed him talking with his hands. As so many of us Italians do, it is said that if our hands were tied we can not speak 😂❤

Definitely should have left the dresser for all drawers and storage and a separate standing shelf where the large mirror is with a place to put all your snacks and coffee maker and fridge separately.

Those aren’t motel panels next to the door. When the resort first opened those were windows. The curtains spanned the existing window then turned at an angle to cover the window all the way to the door. In fact you could close the curtains into the door and get the latch lock caught in the curtains.

As someone that stayed at CBR in January, this room is much improved.

These are very nice rooms, but I wish they would have kept a pirate theme when updating these rooms. My son LOVED when we stayed in the pirate room. He would put on his pirate hat and stand on the bed pirating his ship. It is a great memory!

The two things I ask myself when I buy clothing and shoes: who’s going to iron it and can I run for the bus in these shoes? ;).

This 5th sleeper room looks like it could be at SSR - add a real coffee bar / micro in the open wall space and I swear they would be similar. Looks very DVC ..... I wonder if that is the future plan.

I guess the cost to replace the old wall unit AC with a min split system is going to have to wait until a more thorough refresh of roofs and such. Almost all of the moderates and value resorts suffer from the 1970’s era AC units and not the newer units that separate the compressor and wall unit parts. It seems like Disney is using the Innovabed couch/Murphy bed in all their remodels. The new DVC room conversions have them too. Non Disney properties using this system have the thicker mattress like the main bed so I’m not sure why Disney cheaped out with the thinner mattress. Thanks for your usual thorough review!!

I love the look of these rooms. I think that they are a huge improvement from, what I feel are, very dark and worn looking older style 5th sleeper rooms. The pirate rooms looked cool but I heard older guests complaining about the beds being uncomfortable. I think that the new theming is subtle and it has a classier appearance compared with the same theming at Art. As an older guest, I'd choose this one over Art as it's a much more mature style. Hopefully they eventually upgrade all of the other 5th sleepers. It's a shame about the wear and tear already showing and I guess that'll get worse over time so hopefully they stay on top of the upkeep.

I don’t understand why they don’t add some sort of padding on the small table or the pull down so it don’t damage so easily

I loved the pirate rooms, but the mattresses needed replaced something terrible. I also really like the look of the updates and additional features. I will say that one of the best things about Caribbean was how much storage room they had which was totally decimated with some of these updates.

I like the old decor better. There’s no Ariel even in the room. I missed the small table and chairs that were in the room. Very poor lighting.

I stayed in one of these little mermaid 5th sleeper rooms, and I can confirm the AC is OBNOXIOUSLY loud. I dont know if I just had a bad room, but it would rattle and make so much noise that I legitimately got 0 hrs of sleep. Also(again, might have just been a bad unit), something was keeping the room warm. The AC was running all day long, and was struggling to go below 70ish degrees

I don’t see HOW this is a Little Mermaid theme. I mean it looks nice but I wouldn’t tell my kid it had a LM theme., they would be sadly disappointed..as I am right now 😂

I'm concerned that someone who wants to use that stepstool might hit themselves on the head getting it out

I like the barn door for the bathroom but I don't know if it's like this in all the other hotels that have moved to that style and I just never noticed but I hate the exposed track. It looks so industrial and doesn't fit, would have preferred some sort of cover. I don't know if its intentional for like safety or understanding how to use it but it stands out so much in a very jarring way.

The Little Mermaid is a natural choice for this theme of hotel. But I would be shocked if they didn't also have a Pirates of the Caribbean room somewhere.

With all those high furniture pieces feels kind of odd that there is no room left for traditional framed Disney art, different to what I have experienced before. However it does seem to be more functional and open compared to pirate if you are trying to jam 5 into a room. I was able to acquire one of the pirate ship lights from the old rooms, rest in peace pirates.

Can I ask what block these can be found in I would love this type of room next year rather than the standard 5th sleeper

I think the mermaid rooms at art of animation are more fun and whimsical. These are kind of boring but I guess it’s a moderate resort so it’s suppose to be more upscale.

From a strict room standpoint, why would I pick this over Pop Century? The room style/layout looks nearly identical and Pop is always cheaper.

I feel so torn about this! Caribbean Beach is our favorite resort to stay at. We were excited to hear some rooms were getting updates, it is needed for sure. However, when we heard they removing the pirate theme and adding the Little Mermaid - of which we already have themed rooms at AOA one stop away on the skyliner - we were a little disappointed. While both Little Mermaid and Pirates can and are certainly enjoyed by both little girls and little boys, as parents we were sad to see a themed room that really was "girly" for the boys who like that. The boys have a lot less options for theming and stuff like this at Disney! We LOVED staying in the pirate rooms! All the kids do really. We also really hate to loose space in the bathroom vanity room. That's where we would hide the crib behind a closed door. Now with the closet for hanging clothes there is no room to do that and our stays during this chapter of life with small children and babies needing a crib and quiet place to sleep is a lot more stressful in the room. However, we love the brightness and fresh feel to these new rooms! We typically love to stay in the Aruba section (to utilize Riviera skyliner stop and food) but the rooms are desperately in need of updates and thorough cleaning. Seems like for what you pay at a moderate resort these new Little Mermaid rooms are updated and more appropriate for the price point.

Ummm, is the coffee table backwards ? When you “open it” shouldn’t the table portion come “towards you” so you can eat off it ?

It's amazing that even when you're describing the things you like, you still sound grumpy. And what weird things you find to complain about. The tissue box is too plain? Is that really a consideration?

How do you get lucky enough to get one of these rooms?

Not digging the room. It looks like a deluxe hospital room. Not sure why they stick with the little mermaid theme. The movies location is the Caspian sea location. Should have kept the pirates theme.

I feel pretty conflicted with this redesign. I like the color scheme and the bathroom. They layout feels off, I would have shifted the main bed and pulldown double towards the door another 6"-1', that little sliver of a walkway on the bathroom side isn't enough and they have more than enough space. The room gives off a cruise ship feel. Little Mermaid also seems like such an afterthought to the room. No little details or touches that elevate the room, it still leaning too much into the generic hotel chain design.

I feel like the color of the headboard and sea foam green coach will not wear well.

Any idea if you can request these from disney? Booked in CBR next January in a 5th sleeper!

The pirate theme was cool, but noone wants double beds. Are the main bed and the bigger pull-down bed here queens? The other 5th sleepers at Caribbean Beach are queens.

Things I would have done differently: 1. more lighting. Definitely some dark spots in the room. 2. the drop-down 2nd bed should have small decorative rubber bumpers between the pictures, so if a guest forgot to move that small table and dropped the bed on it, the bumpers would prevent damage to either piece of furniture. 3. The handle on the inside of the sliding door should not hit the wall. Also, that door should have some sort of lock. didn't have to be super secure, just enough to prevent someone from walking in on someone else accidentally. 4. An outlet on the counter above the mini-fridge. (I think maybe they intentionally did that to prevent things like hot plates, etc. from being used, but it's still very inconvenient.) 5. The 5th bed should have been full length. They had the wall space to do it, so I don't know why they made it so short that only a toddler fits on it. 6. Themed, character tiling in the shower. Come on, would it have cost that much more to do a tile mural there? Thoughts? Items 1-3 could easily be retrofitted at minimal cost. Items 4-5 would definitely improve the usefulness of the room. Item 6...lets face it, you could cheap out and use vinyl stickers since the tile would cost too much to replace.

Where's the table and chairs?

No table to eat at? The food court is so far away that we’d send one person to get breakfast and then get the bus from our area. Of course this was years ago.

Kind of disappointed after we stayed in the pirate rooms last year. It’s a downgrade in theming. They could have put so much more in.

(Phew) Thank God the 1989 Little Mermaid is not being abandoned. (Not to mention despite the cast the crew claiming that the remake is "the definative and better version", the remake failed to beat the original critically and it's failing commercially internationally).

It looks like a value resort room, and those basins in the bathroom are a terrible design ,sticking out, small children will easily whack their heads.

DSA: The Little Mermaid (2023) has earned $418 million, globally, as of today, less than 3 weeks in release.

That white table isn’t the best color choice 🥴it’s not gonna stay that color for long. Same with the couch. Come on Disney, this is a resort aimed for families…you’re gonna get kids throwing up and putting their grubby hands everywhere.

Looks like an over glorified Motel 6 room to me. Despite the colors and décor it feels cheap and nasty. I shudder to think how much this room is per night.

How many beach-themed IPs could they have used, though? I suppose this is better than yet another Moana theme... Perhaps they could be moving away from Pirates since they would not represent the ideology that Disney wants to promote.
