Making your own abstract painting is fun to do. Even is this is your first time, you will do great on these exercises. I show you how to do it and why I like painting in this way. You can use all sorts of art materials and even when you don't have them you will do well. Fun without failure, that's my goal.
Support
In case you like to support me and the channel, here some suggestions:
1 Watch the video until the end, this is a positive signal to KZfaq
2 Leave a comment, I just love to read about your thoughts
3 KZfaq shows a ‘thanks’ button below the video, thanks in advance
Materials
The art materials I use in the videos are not sponsored.
I prefer to work on multi-purpose paper, more info in this video: • How to choose the RIGH... In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video. Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

I agree. Abstract painters have an overwhelming supply of tools and paints. Others make fabulous abstracts with basic materials.

Thanks, Ali. I guess it's all a matter of imagination. Just open up to it and do whatever you please. You can leave it as a sketch or spend hours making it look perfect. It's all up to you. I love to have options. Albert

I just discovered your videos. I love watching them. You are real good too. I am a artist and love art. It's always fun to learn from other artists. I'm from Iowa in the United States. Iowa is the home state of the Great Grant Wood. I have been in his studio apartment where he created and painted the masterpiece American Gothic plus other masterpieces. It was real cool and emotional. My favorite artist is Vincent Van Gogh.🌻 I just posted a video of alot of my art. 🌻🌻🌻

Good (Canadian) morning Albert...This was a refreshing lesson. I couldn’t agree more in that “play should take over intent” when creating art. When at a loss as to how proceed, I resort to “play”. Often times I find myself pleasantly surprised by the outcome. Your channel Albert, remains my favorite. It is the first thing that I check while sipping my morning coffee. Thanks again and stay safe.

Thanks Albert. These exercises are always fun to see your exploration, and easy enough for a beginner to try, and someone that's been painting for awhile too. Back when I was taking a painting course, the instructor never said much about technique. Stay happy.

Hi Culture Fan, thanks. I'm glad you liked it and indeed anyone can join in on the joy of painting. What do you mean by your line 'the instructor said much about technique'? Just interested to hear and perhaps it can help me on some ideas. Albert

@@ImperfectPaintings Well, with the instructors that I had in my art courses, their way of teaching was to come up with an assignment ie. create a design out of the letters of your name, or use a comic book as a reference and create a cityscape out of that. However, they never showed us 'how' to paint, the techniques one might employ to paint, like you do ie. you can use stencils, or collage, or use another artist as a reference, and paint something in that style. For all that, I had to search for it on my own, which I have over the years, however, I think that would have been a good thing to include in the courses. Now all this was before the advent of personal computers, back in 1986. So they didn't have that tool then. With that said, however, I did enjoy my art school for the most part. :-)

Hi Culture Fan, thanks for explaining. Things changed overtime I guess, like you said. I didn't like the art lessons in high school very much, I guess they were like yours. Or we had all to make the same thing and it showed immediately who was more artsy what created embarrassment and lower grades amongst those who weren't. I now love to help people in the way I would have loved to be helped 40 years ago. Have a great week, Albert
