Just finished reading it, I’m in tears. JJJ and Ben being friends is something I never realized I needed. Peter’s family is so beautiful; MJ calling him Tiger again is so damn precious

A version of Spiderman that actually wants "The power and responsibility." Will be interesting to read.

the best thing about this new USM is that he CHOSE to be a hero. It’s not out of trauma or some heavy moral obligation, he simply felt like something was missing from his life and once he found the opportunity, it’s clear that it was being a hero. Peter Parker was literally born to be, even by Stark’s words: one of the world’s most prominent heroes can’t wait to see more, i grew up reading the OG USM then eventually Miles right after i binged, the Ultimate Universe has always been my main universe so im more than glad to finally be back home, even if it’s changed a bit while i was gone

I like how Jonathan Hickman actually gave Peter a legitimate happy normal life and the personal choice to get bit by the spider in this iteration. If I had to take a guess, this iteration of Ultimate Peter is probably in his mid-30's given that the "20 years ago" line is repeated a few times in this issue, which means that Peter got all the things a man could ask for in a successful marriage giving him a loving family. I will say, I wish that Peter married Gwen in this story since Norman died before he became the Goblin, so that means that Gwen should be in this story unless Hickman decided to write her out of it since Peter was with Mary Jane in Bendis' original Ultimate Spider-Man.

Probably has the potential to be one of the best Spider-Man runs ever if it continues this good

I love how much Jonah always cares for Peter like a son, such a good contrast with how he views Spider-Man and it’s just wholesome and nice

The great things about this comic are Peter being married to MJ with kids, Uncle being alive and becoming editor of the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson giving Peter his tie and viewing him like a son, and Tony giving Peter a radioactive spider so that Peter would become Spider-Man since it’s his missing piece. Let’s hope that this series improve itself and hope that it will be great.

It almost like post "one last day" but Peter's marriage wasnt part of a deal, his hero past was, and that feels much better

I love that this Peter was given a chose to either become spider man or not and chose to be spider man all in all I hope this comic stay this path of amazing storytelling

A Uncle Ben that's actually established and not just a prop used as an anchor point for peter? A JJJ that's not only friendly with Peter but best buds with Uncle Ben?! A Peter Parker that's not only married with MJ BUT they have kids?! The editorial must be fuming with anger at Jonathan H. right now.

I loved the take on this! It really feels like a completely new character. If this wasn't under the Marvel name and the characters weren't Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson-Parker, J. Jonah Jameson, etc., I would think this was a fresh series about a family man who gets superpowers. But there is also a familiarity. I love some of these concepts. I love that Peter actually had parents that he remembers. MJ finally feels like herself. Hickman's books always feel long because they have a lot of dialogue but not so much that it weighs the book down, which was my main problem with Ta-Nehisi Coates' run on Black Panther. I still think Peter getting his powers at thirty-five is the most interesting change. I love that it's being treated like a mid-life crisis. And it feels very real because of how true to Hickman's life it is. I love that JJJ and Ben are friends. And given their ages, Ben was likely JJJ’s mentor. I have some questions because I don't know if some of the other changes would have actually happened? Would Peter really work at The Bugle full-time if he's not taking pictures of Spider-Man and selling them for cash? I was expecting him to be an Oscorp scientist. Maybe that is why Ben is an editor at the paper. Would Peter and MJ really be together if Peter didn't have the confidence Spider-Man gave him? What did Ben do for work in 616? Who was Kingpin’s dude with the eyepatch, a new character? Also, did anyone else read Ben in Paul Eiding's voice, who is the voice actor for Max Tennyson in Ben 10?

For the first time in a long while I'm actually excited to see where this spiderman story is going, and how different he is from his 616 counterpart.

Anything Jonathan Hickman touches turns to gold. This is the best interpretation of spiderman I've seen probably since the Nick Spencer run. Please give it a read and support

i love this peter having a healthy married life, actually chose his responsibilities, jameson is a good journalist, UNCLE BEN is alive this gonna be fire and definitely gonna sell a lot of copies cuz its a good jumping on point for new readers to some extra point matt murdock being a priest also feels good as long as they keep the daredevil dynamic and harry obsorn is definitely the goblin here

I can't wait for the next video, and I like the sound effects, it helps add to the atmosphere, but I think the music+SE might need some adjustments. I found the music more distracting during the narration+SE. Maybe fade the music down a little more when a SE hits could remedy that? Or it could just be me lol. Either way, great work as always Benny and the crew.

I was already into the writing but when I saw that page I was enamored. I will be reading this every single month. I will save every penny I can for these paper issues (like 4 dollars and change it's ridiculous).

Did anyone else hear background noise for the Ben/Peter conversation at the bar? Also, I watch both ComicsExplained and Comicstorian cover this issue. I find it ironic that Rob took JJJ's line about talking about his feeling with Uncle Ben literally, while Benny didn't recognize the priest was Matt Murdock.

This is a good start. Always wanted this life for Peter. Family, Marry Jane and still being Spider-Man, no body else but him. Even got his daughter May in here. Looking forward to hearing more.

Great start to the new Ultimate line. I picked up my copy and it feels like a welcome return to form for Spider-Man. I am so happy he and MJ are happy and married in this Universe.

I stopped actively reading comics about 5 years ago after that disaster of a wedding arc in Tom King's Batman run. It really put me off comics and soured my perception of them. But I gotta say, seeing this comic trending on my twitter timeline got me back into the scene. I've started reading this and Sensational She-Hulk, which is also very good so far. I hope Marvel keeps putting out good stuff like this. I hope people buy these books so the keep coming.

This issue was a breath of fresh air, felt like I was back in the 80s and 90s reading an actual Spider-Man issue. This was as close to perfect of a first issue as you can get. This is leaps and bounds above ANY other Spider-Man book. This was fantastic.

I actually went and bought the issue before watching the video and I gotta say that it is a very good start to this new Peter Parker. Not only do we see him in a brand new status quo but we see him having a different type of life than the one we've seen and known for so long. This Peter chose to become a hero because he has felt that something was missing from his life, but that doesn't mean that he'll leave what he has behind. Add that to how JJ and Uncle Ben are looking into the truth and you've got something interesting and new. Not sure how it'll play out but I'll be looking forward to it.
