A big part of why Illaoi is also weak right now is the changes to the top lane terrain. There is a decent sized spot in the center of the lane that her tentacles cannot reach. Making it a safe zone for enemy laners and minions, effecting her trading and pushing power.

The Problem on Illaoi is not the buildpath its that the Lane is larger. That means that Tentacles cant hit the enemy anymore.. you should know that as a Leauge Channel.

The gwen nerf is pretty deceptive, people have done the math and its a 25~% cut to damage overall as the passive applies on q snips and r needle hits. This also affects her sustain as she heals 50% of that number. her win rate started free falling the second the nerf went through

Love this video, though I do wish item names were included on the screen. Esp since we have so many newer items, changes like 4:35 it took me a few listens to realize by saying 'Trailblazer supports' you meant the item name is Trailblazer. I know, it seems obvious after thinking it over, but for newer players or new patches, I think it'd be a useful addition! Just a suggestion, these videos are always super helpful. Thanks for all the amazing staff who work on these videos.

I dint think Rocketbelt nerf is going to hurt as much ss people think as its usually bought for the stats and mobility. Not to mention most of the time the damage is inconsistent on the item active anyways. HOWEVER the storm surge nerf will definitely hurt a bit

6:48 yeah, items are not why Illaoi is doing poorly right now. The changes to the map effectively disable her passive in top lane. It is so wide now that her passive cannot reach the minions/enemy champion the vast majority of the time and won't even trigger. Hell, even if you land her E, all the enemy needs to do is walk out and stand in the middle of the wide part until it goes away because no tentacles will spawn or attack them.

I mean … yes but you’re also forgetting literally all the items she built got nerfed as well: Iceborne Gauntlet, Black Cleaver, Hullbreaker, technically Heartsteel since the Item dmg now scales with Item Hp, and Divine Sunderer was straight up removed from the game. The only other core item was really Steraks, and it was less of a buff rather than a Quality of Life change, having the Tenacity straight up rather than only when you have the low health shield. Granted her tentacles are a big reason too, but the item changes, and less talked about the Rune nerfs a few months ago basically killed the champion. She’s been taking these L’s consistently over the span of a few patches, it’s not just one thing

I like how everyone is rating Shyvana based on her AP build which is considerably weaker than AD. Just keep her in low tier so I have my OP pick every time open. As AD she hits like a train and you can build stridebreaker on her as second/third item so you can smack targets to the face easier with your lack of CC.

She was insane with AP too with that new item being first pick. It was comical 2 shotting people at level 6 with it. 80k damage in 30 mins with dark harvest is not ok lmao rip the item nerf

Little known fact- she can also be played as an AP bruiser and makes VERY solid use of Liandry's and Riftmaker. Titanic into those two as a core has been very solid for me when my team needs a beefier frontline AND the magic threat.

@NNxno I didn't rest it much but from 5 games I have 100%wr (high eme/low dia elo ) and I went essence reaver into the voltaic blade you have mana no need for tear mby on laning phase if it's hard to get the reaver. Then either if my team has a lot of great push. Like xerath support or xin with titanic I go ghostblade or something that I need. If we have no pish I go ravenous hyndra. Then I finish with situational items. Black cleaver against malph or maw of malmortius against Diana. The only issue with this build is that you have to get essence reaver ASAP. If you get it fast good you will snowball, but if you fall behind and get the item really late you are kinda doomed.a Edit: +your laning is hard you can buy tear but you are gonna sell it later, so you knowing doesn't have the best components.

I know I am a lower elo player (plat 4) but I have been rushing stormrazor into rf on Jhin with fleet and the movement speed and kite-ablity is soo much nicer (does do less dmg then leth) but I feel like I get way more poke and escape ablity, even chase with more items

Tbh the worst thing i noticed as an Illaoi main, is the Build path of Cleaver, as long as you are building cleaver rn you have no damage as you cant buy as many longswords in the path. Also you lack tankiness as you dont get the damage reduce from iceborn, which made Iceborn viable even against AP Champs, now you are weak while building iceborn & Cleaver

I hate senna... support main here... when i play against senna i do my best to destroy her. I pick full ap blitz, pantheon or pyke and just destroy her whenever i have a chance i don't give her even a second to take a breath even under her own turret she can't feel safe. If i could i would even dive her on spawn but 1k true dmg hurts too much... -_-

You hit someone with a spell, they start taking magic damage due to Liandry and as long as liandry is burning, dealing damage it'll reset the timer of you being in combat with a champion. Making it easier to maximize the stacks of Riftmaker's passive which eventually will give you Omnivamp + higher damage just via one single hit spell. Other than that, since they changed Liandry to have Health now instead of mana it works well with Riftmaker's other part of the passive which converts max health into AP. So naturally having more health because of the liandry stat changes will also give you more AP Via the Riftmaker Passive.

i play more burst adc like trist, draven and nilah but wanted to give varus a go bc i always liked him and heard he was really good. The damage sucks. Almost negligible against tanks, even with bork. The dps is so low and does not feel great.s. I would much prefer to play a more high damage carry. I might watch some gameplay of varus in high elo and see if its just me but istg its overhyped.

@@Siigrit Not saying that you played it badly or anything, but I found a lot of success with Varus so far. Tried his on-hit, lethality and AP builds since season start. So far the worst one for me seemed to be Lethality. Both On-Hit and AP builds let me destroy any tank in a 1v1 (If I'm not behind). I highly recommend you watch some vids! I somehow struggled more with Draven and Jhin than with Varus so far (but maybe that's because at the moment I'm more into On-Hit than other types of builds). But hey dude, you play what makes you climb ranks. No need to go Varus if Draven has a higher % wr for ^^

people sleepin on the zac ap brawler build that nobody knows about, start boots of lucidity & liandry's and then build jak'sho & mejais. passive + jaksho really helps you protect mejais stacks, then you can do more ap items or tank items depending on the game, i hard carry every time

I love how they nerfed titanic but still haven’t fixed sundered sky to work on champs like renekton and other bruisers. It’s bugged, on urgot as well. The bruiser items are limited and underpowered compared to all other classes. As you saw even garen who hovered around 52% win rate last year is down to 46%. It’s mostly cause bruiser items where nerfed and removal of mythics like gore hurt teamfight champs like renekton. They really need to buff or add more bruiser items.

Illaoi weakness comes from the map not items, with the lane in a neutral state the out side wall is the only place to get tentacles, stay towards river and you counter a large section of the lane against her. that is why riot is waiting till 14.2 to buff her numbers if they cant come up with another way to solve her issue with the map. alot champs are having issues with this problem

The changed the map for this reason because it was being abused by a lot of champions. I think ultimately they want it to remain a skill based game, and people are abusing brainless champ mechanics to climb ranks and the system becomes inflated with cheese strats and unplayable circumstances. It’s supposed to be a balanced game so these changes require a lot of players to actually think now and learn the game

doesnt matter what you think, riot (phrozon) has already said Illaoi: She isn't great, but her issues aren't immediately solveable with just numbers changes (lane got wider, so tentacles are worse). We're trying to see what we can do with a bit more soak time on it for 14.2. If we can't find anything, will do numbers buffs. that doesnt sound like they planned this nerf @@9gemz_official

Ranked games is the PBE of the live server in the first 3 weeks lol, this are all just testing the new items and how they serve each champion and casually nerfing or buffing them just 5 days later.

IMO Zeri should be higher especially with her bruiser build as even with the titanic hydra nerfs it's not really that weak, also the lethality aphelios with things like stormrazor is quite good too

I'm gonna be honest I've played so many jgl games and briar absolutely dominates late mid game she's very easy to carry with if you get good and her ult makes her one of the easiest jgls to gank top with which was made harder to gank in the new season.

I really don't understand their thinking in regards to Hwei... You can't buff the problem with his WR out of existence... He has a more complicated kit and is new. This means many people are playing him that don't have the mechanical ability to do so. (Iron/bronze etc.) I've seen plenty of people platinum and emerald with over 50% wr on hwei.... could this be a skill issue?

By now it is a double-edged skill issue. The difference between a bad Hwei and a good one is astronomical - not because a good one can do super crazy things, but because a bad Hwei is less useful than a canon minion. And because so many bad Hweis are running around, people don't usually recognize the opportunities when a Hwei player creates them. I've had situations where I hit R-EE in a choke point, flash in to QE - and I see my whole team run away because omg, no damage. Then ult and QE pops, enemy team is brought down to 20% health, collapses on me, I die, team pings ?s and /ff.

Hwei in C? I am D2 atm and he's one of the hardest champ to trade with he can even rush one outrange him with WQ, Faker even first impression of him before the buff is that he is very strong just because his win rate is shit doesnt mean he is bad since a lot of player who doesnt know what to do will ultilize him badly

Why is vayne not marked as weaker because she builds full on hit? Also varus seems to be strong when I play him full ap or lethality so I think he should be higher on the tier list because his on hit build is bad so people should rotate

Lol at Evelynn dropping a tier... rocketbelt is a terrible item on her right now, as her most important stat is raw AP, so building that on her is completely troll. Not to mention losing damage from stormsurges active just means she goes from completely busted to busted. She still has a stronger lich bane, zhonyas, and banshees, with enough ap to where you can slot any of those items in first or second depending on the game, but at the end of the day you always want to get deathcap second or third if you can, you don't even need stormsurge to win games.

Them nerfing tailblazer feels really bad as support since most support items cost around 2200-2300 gold, while support being the most starved role for gold as we can’t just farm 5 more minions to “make up” for the 100 gold difference.

The state of game is kinda goofy. It seems like people can just pick tanks and win. With all seemingly running heartsteal and sunfire aegis and stacks moving insanely quickly and it makes tanks almost unkillable. On top of that, with the new season, I've literally went from silver 4, to iron 4, in 5 days... bots, people afk, feeding, trolling.. its just stupid.
