If this wasn't a sitcom, Penny would absolutely destroy Alicia in a fight lol

I give Penny the credit that she was never *trying* to exploit the guys. She did say to Leonard that she needed a favor, but it wasn't the type of thing you ask someone you just met. She was in his shower when she asked, but it never came across that she was using the fact she was in his shower as part of any ploy to get him to do that favor. It was more that she's really not inhibited or shy (a lot of actors seem to be either extremely introverted/shy or absolutely extroverted and uninhibited...rarely do they have a middle ground). And any time she has asked for a favor, she does whatever she can to repay it. When Leonard and Sheldon came home pantsless, she was shocked and extremely sorry and immediately offered to buy them dinner to try to make up for what they had been through. And evidently she paid for all 4 of the guys, not just the 2 she owed the favor to. So no, she wasn't using her attractiveness to get anything out of them, and she surely doesn't flirt with them in order to get them to do things for her. In fact, she seemed oblivious that Leonard was attracted to her at all.

Penny in the first few episodes came across to me as a pretty girl who got guys to do stuff for her by just asking. This seems to be just a part of her interactions with men in general and when the guys help her out her response is more just “Wow, you guys are so nice”. She doesn’t seem to go out of her way to flirt with them and just sees them as being more friendly than anything. She never comes across as conniving, just more oblivious to Leonard falling I love with her in 20 seconds than anything. This episode, I believe, is supposed to highlight how Penny and the “nerds” relationship has changed from the series start. It begins with her killing a spider for them and, by her comments, it’s a common occurrence for the guys to get her to do this (you’ve got to at least try with the little spiders comment). And when she makes the analogy of the shield from Star Trek, we are meant to see how the guys have changed her too. What started as Leonard trying to “get in her pants” has evolved into a more genuine familial-like/close friend relationship with all of them. Alicia/Alisha, however, is presented as the type of person to purposefully use her attractiveness to get people to perform tasks for her. She flirts with the guys calling them ‘handsome’ and ‘cutie’ while they are setting up her sound system. She asks Penny how much money they make to see how beneficial it would be to her to “up the game” if you will. And in the end of the episode it’s inferred that her success so far in Hollywood is due partly to her willingness to use her “wiles”to make things happen. Penny’s warning to her in the laundry room is more of a “play the game with people who know it’s a game” than a don’t touch what’s mine statement.

I don’t think Penny has ever really led the boys on maybe very lightly at the start but she has never let Howard think he’s got a chance to get something or at all really

I think maybe the point of having Penny wearing a "Hilary 2008" shirt was that she had run out of clean clothes. This episode aired in March of 2009, so that would have been an old out-of-date shirt.

Jealous Penny is almost as fierce as Harley Quinn (Also played by Kaley Cuoco) I can also imagine Howard being best friends with Barney.

I'm with Sheldon in this episode. I've lived with upstairs neighbors that didn't care at all about anyone else. People who seemed to drop random heavy stuff on the ceiling at 3 am or spend 6- 11 am on a Sunday doing what sounded like dragging furniture around. Argh.

The episode would have aired in 2009, after Obama had become president. The Hillary Clinton shirt was presumably a relic that Penny had lying around. The producers of this show are public about their political beliefs, so displaying a shirt like that isn’t out of character for them.

I would've liked if Penny became a more of a Nerd throughout the show and the boys less pathetic. At least Penny gets a bit smarter.

Hated him at first....but it got so absurd it was funny (i.e.his hero name LORD...EXPLOSION.....MURDER 😆) Then we met his mom and it all made sense 😁 As for Hillary shirt.
