Why aren’t all of them breath checked before boarding? It’s such a simple task that would show extreme trusts.
@lostnetwork57173 жыл бұрын
stats show that there are more bus and train accidents caused by drink driving so the law would have to require them todo the breath check first and that would be unreasonable but unfortunatly politics would argue this and it would never happen. the only chance for this happening is if the air ports put into policy that pilots are to be drink and drug tested before takeoff and maybe the fcc could push this as well but then the pilots union is going to get into the way and them does this apply to smaller airports where planes land and take off with no personal onsite at all. also then theres constitution stuff where your presumed inoccent until guilty and some may argue that requiring everyone todo this would be like saying they all drunks and guilty of drink driving/flying .. operating a vehicle under the influence. basically the crap shoot that these basic things bring to politics is what stops progress. and trust im in agreement on the dink test for these large comercial flights and maybe even small charter planes as well. but life brings fights and arguements and nothing ends up happening. it will take thousands to die before action is taken for any issue. my prayers and hopes for the future is we start preventing things instead of fixing things.

I’m pretty sure it ain’t hard to have a breathalyzer exam. They could install one in the cockpit and have it require a test prior to starting the engine, throw a camera in the cockpit as well to make sure they’re doing it correctly and also to observe any gross negligence and it can be all done for less than $150-$200 per plane, probably less if the software was already in place

Or, he was never drunk? Lack of evidence is not a conclusion of guilt. As an aside, the pilot seems to be walking normally in the video. @DefinitelyNotGeorge there's only 250k pilots in the world, and keep in mind most planes are carrying at least 200 people, so having only 1 drunk pilot a year is dangerous enough. and those are just the ones who get caught. my guess is because almost all of piloting is controlled by autopilot, even landing and takeoff require little work from the pilot, plus the cost of rescheduling a flight is such a pain and expensive for both the airline and passenger, that they intentionally let pilots fly drunk

Breathalyzer for every pilot before any flight. End of story. UPDATE: I still stand firm on my perspective. Why are we comparing daily drivers to commercial pilots? Two different situations especially when you're not behind the wheel... My point was, we need to have some sort of mitigation when there is no other way for the contingency of saving YOURSELF. Yes, we need to check for integrity and the only innocent or moral way of doing so is/are breathalyzer(s). How about for "during flights" you may ask. Each flight has a co-pilot. He/she would HOPE will attempt or take charge. What blows my mind is how, how many people disagree or complain about why it's necessary. If an occurrence were to happen and it was the cause, you would hope for this change. Why do people only act when an instance happens. If there is a probability or risk, we should prevent or reduce its odds.

I was a flight attendant back in the day when security checks were pretty casual for airline personnel. On layovers, some pilots would hang out in the hotel bars, getting drunk, rowdy, and inappropriate. They may not have been drunk on the flight next day, but they were certainly extremely hungover. Looking back, the level of professionalism was awful, but stewardesses, as we were called, had no power to curb their behavior. Not all of them were like this, but enough to make the job difficult.

Residues from alcohol remain in your system 24-48-72 hours and are detectible via a urine sample. Chemically, alcohol sometimes easily takes 8-12 hours to be flushed entirely by your body. If you stop drinking at 2 am and go to work at 9 am...get my point ? So any hangover still has evidence of some sort of alcohol within your body. This is why the cure many times is the hair of the dog that bit me, which only puts MORE alcohol into the body.@@azula3906
