Praesidus' next strike. The brand offers two pilot watches that follow role models from the 40s and 50s. A collaboration with the veterans Bud Anderson and Diz Laird was apparently a strong motivation to create something special that really brings the vibes of vintage military watches.

As a daily wearer of a (modern) sterile dial Flieger, I approve of this approach and watches that are readable in low light and no specs conditions.

They also have a jungle field watch which I haven't seen anyone go over. It's on the cheaper 200$ end but imo that should not stop anyone.

I own a Marathon officers with an eta 2801 manual wind. It has 16mm lug width as well. I make my own straps. Military watches are one of my favorite genres

Snap case back just next to quick release springbars. Kind of a mixture of past and present. But the aesthetics is so cool 👌

Thank you Tom for introducing me to Praesidus….great review video. In my opinion, the major downer is not the sapphire crystal or the sizes (which I appreciate), but the quartz movement, too bad it couldn’t be a manual wind.

They have a type 44 which is wound. I own it, great watch. It's also reviewed on this channel.

Thank you. I rather like them but in terms of authenticity, I would have expected a manual wind movement with no screw down crown and a basic crystal. Just saying.

I'd trade the 16mm authenticity for an extra 2mm to be able to use straps from other sellers. 18mm is fairly common. 16mm... not so. That and the fatness... yeah not for me. I also detect a fair amount of blue AR coating? That's something I never like seeing. I think that crystal is probably single-domed given that side distortion. Much prefer double-domed for readability. The novelty of single-domed wears off pretty fast.

Size is great but I don’t like fake patina, it should have been green. The case back looks great though

Every WW2 watch I've ever serviced had a screw down case back.

The original A11 and A17 watches had screw down cases !

Thanks for the addition. But what's the reason then? Screw down casebacks are very affordable nowadays so I cannot imagine that feature as sort of a cost cutting measure.

I think the reason is the picture on the back , it is easier to fix with a press in the right angle !@@CasebackWatches
