Funny story. At my last job I was with the company owner learning flatbedding. I hadn’t driven a manual in about a year or so and when I did use one it was a 10 speed not a 13. So we went out for a few days to learn the ropes and when he let me take over I damn near lost my job because I missed every freaking gear or when I got it in it wasn’t ready lol. It was a 2019 freightliner Coronado. 50,000 miles on it and I almost blew it up in 2 days. Not to mention I had to go through a toll on the mackinaw bridge. I missed my shifts so bad I pulled off the freeway to restart in low gear. I now float with out a problem very often. Most embarrassing moment of my career. Having the boss scream at you and ask you if you know what you’re doing. Fun stuff. Love the videos! You got me rebuilding my pc right now!

3 things, Life Behind The Wheel is my favorite non-gamer KZfaqr, he's awesome. Super chill guy too. You got High Strung pretty close, even got the GPS in the right spot Second, I don't wear shoes when I drive my truck very often. Sometimes I'll wear the slippers I have. I'm not into getting diesel and piss from the truck stop parking lots all over my truck haha. Third, for a guy who hasn't and doesn't drive truck, you do pretty well.

My dad used to have a gorgeous red Kenworth sleeper with bunk beds, with diamond stitched leather interior on the whole interior with black leather seats and some black accents, a satellite dish for tv, mini fridge, semi automatic transmission with I believe a 750hp tune on it. He bought it used at a year old, brand new I think it was like $125k or so fully loaded, maybe more, I'm not too sure tbh. Also had a gorgeous gun metal Pete with dark tint sleeper cab as well that he sold for the KW and then also picked up a Volvo sleeper for cheap. I LOVED the KW and Pete tho, they were gorgeous. He owned 2 dry bulk trailers as well. He hauled Flour for Stroehmann Bakery for their delicious white bread. The bakery is literally 1 mile from my house so we always smell it baking in the air. He sold his trucks and trailers since unfortunately.

Absolutely not necessary to shift EVERY gear lol you are correct, the splitter is definitely just to give the driver versatility and a range of options when they need it. A sweet spot if you will. I cringe when I see KZfaqr shifting into EVERY SINGLE gear. And yes I’m a a driver, I drive dump trailer in nyc. Sand gravel, material like that
@SewerShark
@SewerShark 3 жыл бұрын
I found out about that when I first used the G29 shifter. The first 3 or 4 gears you have to switch so fast, so I basically go from 1st to 3rd or something.

Tidbit of info: 81,000 is illegal here in Texas as well as Cali. Its 1,000 pounds to heavy.
@Rena_Skuxy
@Rena_Skuxy 3 жыл бұрын
I think the reason being is because of how they have the weight to axel ratio and that trailer cannot exceed 3 axels I believe. I’m not fully sure why 80,000lbs is cap. Aside that still makes me wonder how the heavy loads are supposed to work. Either way I live in Cali irl and I hate a lot about this state. I’m sure they have good reason for their DOT laws but I moved my base of operations to Portland Oregon. Most of my trips in game take me to Nevada or Arizona, so most of my configurations that are legal in Oregon tend to be legal there too. I try to skip Cali in game because I run into way too many weigh stations and it hurts my arrival time.

I can’t wait to get my wheel and shifter hooked up I finally got a wheel to play ats, snowrunner, and mudrunner. I love rocking out my old school Kenworth k100 cabover. A tip coming from a irl trucker, try to avoid blindside backing (passenger side). In an 18spd we don’t split the low range, only split the top end when loaded, even mid weight load, no split empty until 8th gear.

The main reason for using the splitter is to keep the needle in the higher rpms when shifting cause that's where the power is in trucks. High rpms r especially important when climbing hills n driving on loose material like gravel. High rpms r important for traction since u have to let off of the throttle a little at a time so as to prevent wheel slip but also keep power applied to forward momentum simultaneously n not have to switch gears since doing so will most likely lead to wheel spin in such conditions as hills or loose material.

As a real life truck driver, the maximum gross vehicle weight or GVW is 80,000 lbs. To find out before you get to the scales is to visit a loves, pilot flying j, or TA that has a CAT Scale there you can determine your weight before you get to the scales. Also alot of shippers are requiring you to scale before leaving with a load, so that you can be legal and therefore reduces the amount of take backs and reworks on freight being loaded onto trailers. If you are over on one axel say your drive tandems, or trailer tandems you have to adjust the weight accordingly to be within legal limits of the states you will be driving through.

I also received yesterday my wheel the Fanatec CSL Elite 1.1 wheelbase the CSL Elite WRC steering wheel and the CSL Elite pedals without the LC kit. My next savings will a cockpit as I want a better construction as the monitors are shaking while having the FFB too high. And of course a manual shift and I think the better pedals from Fanatec

You need to try that Australian mod for the TH8A the "Clixbeetle GT" it uses a 3D printed piece with stainless plates, ball bearings and springs to give you a tactile feel as you shift in and out of each gear. $50 and it is so worth it.
@SpatialDragon
@SpatialDragon 3 жыл бұрын
Your shifting/splitting gears is backwards. Real truckers rarely split gears in the lower range because the torque vs weight does not require splitting. If you are using your splitter on an on ramp to avoid using your Range you look like a noob. You rarely need the splitter in low range, you mostly use it in the high range gears and mostly to keep your rpm range in the zone at your selected cruising speed.
