New World PVP build guide for Spear/firestaff off-meta build (inferno artifact)

Little overview of what I use for my spear/firestaff (inferno artifact) build for pvp in new world. Let me know what you think or if you have any questions about why I chose something.
-Few things I forgot to mention since I was just winging it:
-I don't care about health perk. wildly overhyped imo
-no, inferno doesn't do as much damage as a regular firestaff (but it's fun)
-heartrune is basic bc I never had any until this season and just haven't upgraded it yet. forced into dungeons for artifacts.
-tried blooddrinker artifact, it's just awful. disappointed I farmed it honestly.
-my spear-forced lifestealing & fort perf, crafted a few spears and every one got a "shirking ele dmg" perk.. it's not great but it's good enough. Ideally, I'll get vicious or keenly empower in the next few attempts.
-no runeglass opal on spear bc i switched to a T2 int to see how it would do with a regular firestaff (not great). didn't bother putting in a new one since I'm crafting more spears anyway..

Its a bit late, are you still using this? This is my favorite weapon combination. Is this good in light? Im trying to figure this out 😅 also, have you tested this with a new int gem scaling?

no worries brother, I did test the new int gem scaling with full ignited gems and fire harnessing and the spear still loses quite a bit of damage compared to a str/dex combo. it plays well in light I just don't enjoy light with my playstyle. so u basically just have to decide which weapon you care about doing max damage and that'll tell you which attribute split to go with. if the spear is more of an off-hand then definitely go int. I use the firestaff for utility and some aoe that's why I prefer the strength inferno split

@PJsurely that makes sense. I go back and forth on it a lot since I like both weapons. But I tend to prefer melee range and will try to use fs in melee which usually doesn't work out well haha 😆

I appreciate a small channel putting out a build, but I got some critiques. No gameplay showing off the build, no explanation on how the build works, and your armor is awful. The health perk is bis and if you aren't running it on 4 pieces minimum, you're actively hurting yourself. The firestaff arti is considered really bad because dots scale better with int and firestaff is all about those burn stacks.

I'm really not sure if you're trolling since you basically copy/pasted my things I forgot to mention from the description. I have gameplay of the build on my channel already and somebody asked for a build guide so I threw this together quick. my armor is exactly what I want it to be, I'd take 4 invigorated over 4 health. 1,500 extra hp isn't going to save you in pvp very often but cleansing rend, weaken, and diseas will. you can check my other recent video if you'd like to see how much the fortification mitigates. I'm very well aware the firestaff artifact does less damage than a regular one, it does enough to be viable and makes it possible to pair my 2 favorite weapons together. this isn't "new meta breaking blah blah clickbait", it's simply my build. I even mention in the video that the dots don't do any damage. nt tho

@PJsurely I just got recommended this 1 vid by KZfaq so I'm missing the context I guess. I also do not read video descriptions. As for health perk, with just 4 on 150 con, I'm at 17k health, which you are in the 14ks. Invigorated pretty bad imo. Shirking heals heals by max % so health gives more effective health in every way than invigorated. My point about fs is that you be better off dumping into int and tossing a fire Gem on your spear. You'll get more, reliable damage that way.

I'm all for a healthy debate. I tested an int gem spear, firestaff does great damage like usual but the spear misses too much to be viable even forcing a bunch of dex and str, that's not great for me since I mostly play spear that happens to have a firestaff in the back pocket. I prefer playing a strong spear and a firestaff that does enough to get by. if I was super concerned with being optimal I'd just go bow or musket, I find this more fun. I play right on top of people anyway cycle my abilities then go back to spear, it does decent burst dmg still. as for health, I don't think we'll ever agree on that. it's great if you are near a healer but I play solo and build for self-sustain. 2k health total isn't as valuable to me as being able to heal for 2k every 5 seconds. it's not as valuable as just mitigating that dmg to begin with and not having to heal it. it's not as valuable as having my leeching cyclone or the additional fireball dmg. and my last 2 armor perk spots that it could go in, I'd rather have invigorated. if I'm weakened I do less leeching, if I'm rended it negates my fortification and I can be bursted, if I'm diseased it makes half my perks useless. ehp isn't everything imo, you have to consider the overall value added throughout a real fight to determine if something is viable.

@PJsurely okay, I kind of understand now. If you just care about spear, the build isn't that bad. We Def won't agree on the health/invigorated thing, but that's fine. I run a super off meta build myself, and it's built around self sustain. I average 1k healing a second and pump damage like you wouldn't believe despite using blood drinker.
