Light dodge is the best defense and best offense in this game. Any heavy or medium player in these situations has zero chance of creating any separation or closing any gap without a weapon skill to do it compared to light can just double dodge roll away which gives them stamina back (shirking energy) and then dodge roll back in to attack and dodge roll away to avoid all damage.

@@heartless_gamer Exactly! I really wanted to pull off a heavy armor build though, but after a lot of testing, I had wayyyy higher sustain in light. A lot of the healing in this build relies on dealing damage, and 80% of players run light armor in opr, so they will simply disengage if they cannot win, and I could not catch them, so I could not heal.

@@AmbrielNW Yep, tried a very similar idea for heavy and yes you can survive and even kill a few who just refuse to move, and are super squishy and don't realise they're rended, but mostly you're just tanking till you fuck up or get screamed to shit. With a healer its insane but again you don't really contribute to much aside from distracting people that won't stop bashing you :)

Thanks! This build has +50% slow durations thanks to 300 con(20%) and Crippling(30%), which is perfect because both s&s and wh applies slows. The higher max hp also boosts shirking heals and pots, so at the end of the day, it turned out to be a very powerful build that has been my go-to for arenas and open world pvp 😀

@@erhan9805 Haha, it's the insane healing that makes me appear tanky. Watch the fight at 1:33 but only look at my health bar, it drops pretty fast, but look at how fast it goes back up! It does synergize with hatchet! +50% slow on the crippling feral rush armor perk and social distancing throw is powerful. The higher max hp also increases berserk healing, so it'd make for an interesting build 😉

@@AmbrielNW The Deeproot sword would be a good option, it has Enchanted, lifesteeling and refreshing move. It drops from the tentacle boss in pools.

@@briskel Would be ok to get started, but to push this build to its limit, you need empowered leaping strike. 31% higher sword damage for 6 light attacks after using the ability, because of the extended slow duration from 300con + crippling on ring. I can hit almost a 7k heavy attack on a target dummy with the sword when I've procced all of the buffs that this build offers. 😀

Welcome back! If you have all of the gear I did, I'd say it is one of the easiest builds I've played haha. With so much healing you can make a lot of mistakes and just heal back up. Wreckingball > shockwave > heavy attack(warhammer) > path of destiny is the hammer combo for tons of burst and healing. If being chased and you have to get away, a quick roll forward into path of destiny, but you turn around during the animation, and then roll backwards is another great one. They will all get staggered and slowed. For the sword, 3x light attacks > shield bash > heavy attack(sword) for 30% empower > leap for 31% more sword damage > 6 light attacks are the big dps for this build. Each of those damage combos can kill many light players pretty fast. For healers or tanky enemies, doing that sword combo, followed by the hammer combo right after the 6 light attacks is pretty deadly. If all else fails, just spamming heavy warhammer attacks has proven to be quite effective (Trenchant recovery is a must on the warhammer!)

Good to hear, it really is a fun build! The paladin class is a broad term, so I personally found it fitting for a warrior class with tons of self-healing, although I understand others might not agree, because there's no direct healing abilities 🤔

@@zeroremorse24x7 I can't answer that yet, as I have intentionally stayed away from the ptr, and reading about the update. Because new content is rare. Who knows how long until next time? So once brimstone drops, I will have a lot of tinkering and theorycrafting to do that might keep the game fresh until the next content update 😅

Thanks! It was bought from the tradepost. The most important perks are Trenchant heals and leeching path of destiny, the last perk is pretty much meh. You'd get similar results with a purple hammer with those two healing perks. Shirking nature turned out to be much better than I initially though tho, an additional 40% weapon damage is decent. Just look at 1:38

Thanks! I find the biggest threat in this game to be musket and bow, that is why I slot thrust gems 😄 Yeah, the ring can be expensive. I paid 60k for mine, but hearty is vital for that double roll, and so is crippling because it extends the slow from leaping strike, making the damage buff from the leap perk last long enough to get 2 light attack chains buffed by it. Leeching is optional, but it is great to have for additional sustain

For 1v1 against really good players, Hatchet/S&S. But it takes a lot of concentration and effort to do well with hatchet/S&S in a duel setting. Like failing to cancel one berserk animation could be the 1 mistake it takes to lose the fight. For 1vX fights, this paladin build is better. With so much healing you are allowed to make tons of mistakes, and it has an answer to almost every other build. It also doesn't take much effort to do well with it. The reason why the paladin build is not as good in 1v1 is because the hammer is too slow. In 1vX fights there are so much going on that it's much harder to react to the hammer attacks, and because you heal from damage, a big aoe attack on many enemies are pretty much a heal back to full health, lol.

I mentioned it with some small text at 4:49 Divine is awesome on this build, but I found it to be overkill, so I swapped it with shirking empower to reach that 46% empower with the sword. One could swap refreshing with divine as well, but I value refreshing too much. 😂The keen/Vicious/Leap sword I was using was from the pvp reward track, but if it had lifestealing, it would be so much better. I found a few with lifestealing on the tradepost, but they had +15 dex 🙁

@@AmbrielNW Interesting that you find it overkill; I rarely find myself in the need of more damage... always feels like I need just a little more healthbar to finish things when I go with a light build. Will have to play around here once I can find a sword.

​@@heartless_gamer I am used to playing 5 con melee builds, so you can imagine how tanky I felt when I suddenly had 300 con 😂 But I did feel the loss of damage, especially vs healers, so I found ways to increase the damage and stay 300 con. With this setup you do have damage to kill healers alone, but it is a little tricky, gotta chain some nice combos. Like get 16% empower from the necklace, then 20% rend from armor breaker(swap wreckingball) into 3x light sword attacks into a shield bash, then heavy sword for 30% empower straight into leap for 31% more damage, and then 6x light attacks. Those 6 attacks hit so hard that even healers struggle if caught off-guard. But don't get me wrong, if I could find a divine/health/Shirking empower necklace, I'd use it

They are using the PvP reward gear which is shirking heals/resilient/refreshing; so not sure they really considered other options as they focused just on heals.

@@argo7957 I don't play this build but I do play a lot of hammer and sword/shield (various builds over time). The cooldowns are looooong on both weapons and the basic attack animations are dirt slow on hammer making it very hard to hit consistently with; refreshing helps get your cooldowns down so they can be more reliably used. I actually prefer hammers with Refreshing Move as well to further speed up the cooldowns.

The main thing is 5x Shirking heals from the pvp reward track. Heartless is right that warhammer is slow and most abilities will be dodged, so refreshing helps you get them back faster, and thus increases your chance of landing an ability during a fight. I would personally not trade refreshing for shirking fort even if I could, as this build is not really that tanky, it just appears so because of all the healing. And that healing comes from frequently using abilities 🙂

Thanks! For general pve stuff I would swap the armor pieces to heavy armor with refreshing/shirking fortification/an ability perk on every piece. Also swap the round shield to a tower shield. For the gems I would play around with the new brimstone gems, specifically the leeching gems for even more healing. Otherwise, I would just get onyx gems in every socket. You'd be unkillable in most pve settings, and with 200 str you would still deal good damage

The specific reason is that I could not find an amulet with Health/Shirking empower/Divine, So I did the best with what I had 😅 I valued shirking empower over a purple health/divine amulet, as it allows this build to reach 46% empower on the sword bar, and the build is lacking damage, it already has insane sustain 🙂

Thanks! Haha, putting on a tower shield skin and heavy armor skin grants a hidden passive though. When muskets see you, some won't even bother shooting because they think you are a tank 😆

@@AmbrielNW Ha, I play heavy armor melee currently but have the round shield skin on my tower shield. Muskets always shooting me (sadly still dangerous as they can still hit me for 4-5k a pop).

Something like heavy armor, lifestaff+s&s would lose 100% of the fights against this one, because this build would both out dps and out heal that build. I put a lot of thoughts into my builds, to make them good and viable in the current meta. Heavy armor, high sustain sounds good on paper, but in reality you'd be of no threat, you would only be a punching bag, and it only takes a few seconds longer for a good player to kill you, or the enemy would simply walk away if he cannot. Actually, this might defend it better. (copy-pasted from one of my other answers): "It is a fantasy video game class, there's no global constitution as to what a Paladin must have equipped, otherwise games would get boring if every warrior class had to specifically wear a sword, or every mage had to use fire magic. People have different backgrounds as to where they've seen Paladins, movies, books, video games, dnd, and so on. I've played various games that has included their take on a Paladin class, and there's always been one constant - At its core, it is usually a warrior class combined with a cleric class within a holy theme. A warrior that is a threat in terms of damage and ability to fight and has self-sustain through healing. This is my take on the Paladin class within the New World pvp meta, where my highest priority was making it actually viable in pvp. But at the end of the day, it is all fantasy anyways." The newest video of this build does a better job highlighting just how strong the incoming heals are in the first clip of that vid. 🙂

This is a hoping and rolling light armor build move like assassin. And there is no holy, spell, cleric, heal theme around the build. So in the end outside of outer look of you nothing resembles a "Paladin" . And I also said your build and gameplay with that one is solid. So I just talked about "themes" . So you dont need to clarify is Paladin gonna beat this one or not :) And Yes Paladin has a different types but also it has a "general concensus" too. And which is Warrior Cleric or Holy Warrior or Warrior that has knowledge with spells & magic. That what defines Paladin out of other Warrior classes. And Paladin has to be "tanky" too. Cuz It's generaly a "support" class not a "damage dealing" class. So in the end. Good results, good skills, good pvp damage dealing build. But It aint a "Paladin" build at all, and not even close. And you cant cover that as "your take on" .... That's all I'm saying my friend. Again no disrespect to your effort or mechanical skills. All I'm saying; Paladin is what it is and this aint a Paladin. - Moving Like a Rouge - Fairly more squishy than usual Paladin - No cleric, heal, spell relation - And I'm not sure about Warhammer for Paladin. I just typed "What is Paladin Class in Games" in Google and I wanna quote the first result to you my friend. "In game terms, a paladin is typically a warrior first and foremost, proficient with heavy arms and armor, but also gifted with blessings or magical capabilities such as healing, protection, and countering evil magic (including undead), albeit to a lesser degree than a true priest or cleric." Heavy Armor -> Lacks Magical Capabilities -> Lacks Support Capability -> Lacks Visual Outlook -> Check So you only check out of 4 major defining point for the class. Again, thanks for your effort, great guide and awesome PvP gameplay. Like I said before it was "solid" . But this aint a PALADIN ^^

So, what's a paladin to you? Just curious as there are other comments about the choice of build name as well

@@AmbrielNW Paladin to me at least, refers to more of a dedicated healing weapon being part of the build, so traditionally the Paladin build in new world refers to SS/LS.. Since healing in your build is based off of damage, I would see it as more of a leech build as far as naming goes since there is no way to heal other people, which paladin would imply.

@@TheIVSaken I see what you mean, I mained paladin in wow back in wotlk, but never really touched healing in terms of healing others, I used it to heal myself and do 1vX stuff, so to me the paladin class is simply a warrior that can put up a tough fight, and also has access to multiple sources of healing to stay alive. If I had a lifestaff, I would no longer be able to put up a fight like a warrior, and it would be more like a Priest/Cleric class that relies on slowly wearing people down. There are not really any specific guidelines as to what a paladin is, so it's all personal opinion, but we could always agree to disagree?

I agree with you, I tried to make this a heavy armor build initially, but as you said, it would be dead in many of the cases shown in the vid, and it was. I hope to one day see more diversity in the armor sets in pvp, but as of now, light armor is just on another level compared to medium/heavy.

@@AresMoments Instead of jumping to the conclusion that any good player is hacking, ask them for advice. I'd gladly give it if you would ask nicely. To answer your accusations, many animations in this game can be cancelled simply by dodging/attacking/taking damage. with the 8 roll accusation, I think you are referring to a moveset I do when ranged players are shooting at me from a distance, I combine dodging and jumping to prone to become much harder to hit. It might look like a lot of rolls to people that don't know how to do it. I don't show those situations in my vids, because there is no entertainment value watching me avoid incoming projectiles.

Anyway on my opinion you are not legit at all . i don't care about appearing in your videos but not my name on your main picture .Peoples get harassed by being exposed like that. You can put the message but at least you should blur the name so we don't get harass by your followers who can be toxic .You have multiples options : Delete that picture with my name or you can use blur so we can't identify my name , simple . 48 hours
