Thanks John for your videos! My family had an amazing 2 weeks in Tokyo. We actually flew home on 12/31 back to California. Your videos were so helpful from choosing where to stay and navigating the trains, I was so prepared. May 2023 be all that you wish it to be!

Just responding to your comment about Japanese pop music culture......The Japanese band called Higedan is by far the best band I've ever heard, even internationally. They are well educated and refined musicians and they also compose their own songs and the words are really deep. They are considered JPOP but they really don't fit in a genre since there is gospel, jazz, disco, R&B, hip hop in the make up of their songs. Their videos and concerts are very classy and even their clothing and hair! The singing, the videos are all exciting. I never get tired of listening to them. Satoshi Fujihara has the most amazing and versatile voice I've ever heard. His voice soars and is on perfect pitch. I also enjoy the Japanese drama "Channeru Sono mama!" but I guess because the material is so clean, people get bored but it is really funny and full of heart.

Aww... I loved the video footage from 2020 with Kanae and you. So fun! Thank you for sharing the New Year countdown and ringing in the NY in Japan. It is still NYE here. Watching from Phoenix, Arizona tonight. I will be asleep way before the clock strikes midnight (Mountain Standard Time.) I don't recall when the last time I stayed up to ring in the new year. I used to party hard when I was younger, but now...I prefer to stay home and spend a cozy evening with my husband. I make a NYE special meal and that is pretty much it for us. Anyway, it is fun to see people celebrate around the world. I wish you a prosperous and happy New Year John! Can wait to see what you have planned for us in the new year!

Hope to visit Osaka Japan in March to visit my son. I was able to visit him in the last 2 weeks of November. We were able to enjoy the fall leave festivals in Kyoto and most sights nearby. Will try to learn some Japanese before I go.

@@sekolaampang together with all those who were out, right? all japanese. all disrespecting tradition. all the clubs and bars are full at NYE on japan. japan is not a country where you can only do one thing or its wrong. and even if thatw as the case, he can go out and celebrate how he wants to. japan is not just rtadition, its a modern country with many japanese cultures and rtaditions, old and new.
