Snow piling up in Durango on New Year's Eve 2021 required the D&S to run a “Work Extra” Flanger/Spreader “OF” ahead of the Cascade Canyon Winter Train powered by (recently converted to burn oil) K36 #482. I almost get covered in snow as the flanger spreads snow at Shalona Crossing and I have included the Rockwood departure to clear snow up the Canyon. I “Chased and Paced” both the diesel helper #101 and oil fired K36 #480 pulling the Cascade Canyon Winter Train up the Animas Valley where they couple up for 2.5% grade up Hermosa Hill to Rockwood. Hear and see them work together crossing the Highway and again at Shalona Crossing.
