A tribute to America's beloved railroad. New York Central was known for having the famous steam locomotive the 'Hudson'. As well well known trains such as '20th Century Limited, Empire State Express(My Favorite)and Commodore Vanderbilt.
Footage: New York Central, Pentrex, Sandy River Productions, and Green Frog.
Song: Ghost of the Rails by James Coffey

@Celluloidwatcher
@Celluloidwatcher Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the reflection of what was once one of the greatest railroads in America, the New York Central System. I rode their trains as a child, and was impressed by its history, once I learned about it. I thought it was a wonderfully run organization. It merged with the troubled Pennsylvania Railroad in 1968 to form Penn Central, which went bankrupt a few years later, although that's another story. I choose to remember a gold standard company that was innovative with their streamlined locomotives, as seen on the video, trying to advance train travel, their fleet of trains, including The 20th Century Limited and the Hudson, among others. Thanks again.

The greatest railroad to have ever existed imo. Grand Central Terminal, Buffalo Central Terminal, the streamlined Hudson, the 20th century limited, the commodore Vanderbilt, the Mercury, the Empire State Express, and all the history of the smaller railroads that formed it. The Pennsylvania railroad was good, but the central was great.

Could've done "ngl" or something like that. Besides, this is just my own opinion! "No cap" insinuates that I believe what I said to be fact! Sheesh, I can't believe that I'm looking at something I did just _seven months_ ago, and saying "Wow, I did some *weird* things when I was younger"

Amtrak could theoretically have the north east area where New York central operated have a different color scheme and naming, bringing back the legacy of it. It would not be all too difficult I don’t think. Eh, just a interesting tangent.

It really is sad that very little remains that is recognizable of the New York Central. If I remember correctly in terms of rollingstock, what remains that can be easily traced are two mohawks New York Central 999 which to my recollection is the last remnants of the railroads that formed New York central, a few diesels like one of the diesel streamliners in the New York central Museum in Indiana. Another diesel switcher, which is safe and has a new working life at the Strasbourg railroad, and the last remnant of a Hudson, a former New York central Hudson tender that was converted to a steam generator and is currently on display at Steamtown national historic site. There are also a few coaches that were used on the American freedom train, but I’m not sure what happened to them. I know that they were at least a few coaches in the Indiana museum and two that were used in a Amtrak excursion several years ago. When compared to other former railroads like Santa Fe southern, pacific, or even the Pennsylvania it is very hard to find anything left of the central system. In fact, the only thing anywhere close to your suggestion that exists is a Norfolk, southern heritage unit in the New York central colors, which definitely is a cool piece of equipment and a glimpse into an interesting what if had the New York Central survived to the present day, or at least until just a few decades ago

This gives me nostalgia from my child hood but in a different way. As a small child i lover anything John Deere. I recieved a DVD called John Deere Heaven. It was made by TM book and video. They also produced alot of i like toy trains movies and not. And the one i watched had trains in it (trains related to farm equipment?) And it was mainly scale layouts from like Lionel. In the end if the DVD they would show their other videos that TM produced like airplanes and trains. I cant remember but there was a song that went with the train one and this video. (The one that this comment is on) reminds me of it for some reason. EDIT: ALSO, james coffey sang in plenty of the john deere movies, so no wonder it gives me nostalgia!
